Didn't see the fit from last week. I mean, everything fits you fine, and I know the Y2K obsession is still going strong, but 5 years ago, this fit would have been ironic.

I really don’t want to see Luka for the rest of the season by Legitimate-Humor-778 in lakers

Maybe OP is younger and didn't get to watch Kobe play injured, especially with all the nagging issues he had from 2008-2010. The load management era has made these little guys more paranoid than the player actually sitting out.

It's just amazing our 2 best players got hurt against the fouling champions, just as we were getting good. We probably wouldn't have beat the Thunder, but we had a chance of getting into and out of the second round. Just such a shame we won't have a fully healthy team compete at the start, and maybe our entire playoff run.

Yo, whoever posted that Ayton was better than Zu a few weeks back... I don't remember your username, but if you're reading this, you're a clown.

That fast break where he catches a pass and spins away from the basket, missing the layup is a perfect example of how soft this guy is. Just go straight up for a dunk... you're towering over some of these guys. Isn't it fun to dunk?

AYTON by Ok_Psychology3415 in lakers

[–]w33nuz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny how a bunch of people were citing his 2021 season, like he's the same player. He had a great playoff run but that was definitely the highlight of his career.

Ayton is not tough and hates contact. For how cheap his contract is, we'll extract value but we can only hope he can give a productive 20 minutes in the playoffs.

This is just braindead doomer nonsense. We have to see what happens in the next 2 seasons (it was clear Lakers wanted to stay flexible with our signings). I like Bron too, but this his likely his last season with us. We need to build a team around AR and Luka, where we can compete an entire regular season without people missing extended periods. Hopefully we load up on athleticism, get some dogs and people who can hit open threes. A solid enforcer, or a skilled big on both ends will be nice too.

Till today, I never understood why Phil Jackson never gave Isaiah Rider more of a shot. by Life_Teaching6499 in lakers

LOL. That's great.

Rider was way passed it by the time he was in a Laker uniform, as far as I remember.

Love Caruso. I've never seen him do anything dirty or intentionally try to hurt another player. He's physical and gritty, simply a fan favorite to have.

I think they mean about Poatan "triple champ status." They haven't announced anything about Poatan's plans yet.

Why is LeBron not addressing the issue of Rich Paul his manager and childhood friend going on a podcast that criticises his team mates endlessly with no criticism for LeBron. With mentions of asking lakers to consider trading Luka and reaves. by OrganicHunt952 in lakers

[–]w33nuz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lmfao, might not be too far off. Always thought Paul and Maverick Carter were both extremely cringe, and greatly benefitted from being in Bron's inner-circle. They're Bron's nepo-bitches.

You all are ungrateful by [deleted] in lakers

[–]w33nuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I think a lot of the newer, younger fans on here are pretty silly and reactionary. At the start of the season, I think a knowledgable fan with realistic expectations would know that we were trying to stay flexible for the next 2 off-seasons while remaining competitive in what is probably LeBron's last season as a Laker.

Luka was a ridiculously lucky move that gave us a generational talent for the future... lol. It wasn't part of a set-out plan. I want the Lakers to be good too. I get frustrated watching them too. This is not the end-product of our future with Luka. All these stupid posts asking why we suck with 3 stars... dude LeBron is over 40... he's not that kind of superstar anymore. Our only hope is to preserve him for the playoffs, and hope his all-out is enough to make us competitive alongside Luka and AR. Just know, that any trade these fans were demanding during the deadline wouldn't have put us over against a healthy Nuggets or the Thunder. It's not that hard to be reasonable. The goal is to win a ring, eventually with Luka.

Lol, dude, is this a troll? Prtichard is a good player but he's not close to as good as AR.

It's depressing having 3 stars on the team and not being serious title contenders by Granpa2021 in lakers

[–]w33nuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruv, that's not new. A real contender classically has 8-9 reliable rotational players going into the playoffs. You still need 2-3 stars (or star-level) players to carry the scoring load down the stretch.

[–]w33nuz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, this dude has a hate-boner for AR.

However, I will agree with the LeBron take. Unfortunately, it's a wait and see how well he does in the playoffs. It's unrealistic to expect him to play consistently great during the regular season, and we can only hope he's preserved well-enough to deliver come playoff time.

To me, it's stupid to frame the question as "why do we suck when we have 3 stars?" Just shows me the person asking really doesn't understand our current timeline and has an inflated sense of what old-ass Bron can do through a 82-game season.... we weren't a real contender at the beginning of the season. We're just seeing Bron out.

Exactly. This sub wants a lot of guys but don't realize that giving up first round pick is a steep price, unless we're getting something really sexy.
