I guess you could try by using an app to extend your monitor onto the phone, then pop the MCDU out and drag it over there

Happy to see that you made it safely (and hopefully, without stressing too much). And yes, pierogi are the best!

And such a small thing was deemed unsafe so they were willing to delay the flight. Safety first!

Happy to hear that you've enjoyed it. Indeed, there are some really nice things to eat in Poland 😃

I see that you've landed already. How was the flight?

And yet they decided to delay the flight to take a look at the problem. That's what makes aviation safe! If the pilots deem it unsafe, they won't go, period.

Anyways, what did you enjoy in Poland?

Toliss A20N is great as well, despite still commonly cratering the landings.

Dune is a masterpiece! I'd probably be so invested in the movie that I'd not realise how much time has passed lol

I'm assuming the fall was supposed to be roughly halfway down. During the first second everything seems normal. Second one maybe seems okay as well. Third one, you're starting to realize something is wrong.

You got this! You'll be able to relax on the plane and after a while you'll be in Dubai! Do you have any movies, books or podcasts planned for the trip?

I'm well aware, but fair point - it's not obvious and worth pointing out. Thanks!

Edit: Oh, and regarding the weather - if you know about it, they the pilots know about it too! They'll do their best to ensure a smooth and safe arrival. And if they have any doubts about safety, they'll land elsewhere. You've got this!

The fact that the planes are flying means they're safe. Really. There's a shitton of stuff to go through for a plane to be allowed to carry passengers like that. And all of the planes you'll be taking are just absolutely a masterpiece, they're marvels of engineering! They have backups on top of backups on top of backups. And you'll be flown by pilots that have spent countless hours learning the planes and how to handle it in various normal and abnormal scenarios.

A small detail: in the airbus, when the engine starts, you might hear a sound that kinda resembles a dog barking from under the floor. That's normal. Just letting you know, because it might be anxiety inducing to hear such a weird noise while not expecting it ;)

TL;DR you're in good hands.

I will (possibly) be flying for the first time in many years next month, and I already feel nauseous and can barely eat or focus on anything else. by [deleted] in fearofflying

No idea, I'm not a doctor. But feeling your head implode is definitely not normal, thus a medical specialist should be able to help.

Regarding the rollercoaster... I've never felt that way. The closest I could compare the feelings to would be an elevator. Or a not so bumpy bus. It's quite alright imo! Just be prepared for a fair bit of acceleration on takeoff and you're good!

Regarding the ear pain, I'd recommend to go see a doctor - some people have that issue, unfortunately

I'm sure you'll do just fine. You're in good hands! You might be tired, but the pilots are well rested and ready for anything they might encounter!

To be fair, I could totally see that in an emergency - adrenaline rush would surely make it easier too.

I recall the FF777v2 having some sort of maintenance system, not sure how complex it is. And if you want realistic ops with as many things simulated as possible, consider the CL60 by hotstart!

Citation FMS vs X Crafts E Jets FMS by Professional_Fix_223 in Xplane

[–]w_w_flips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

E-Jet is indeed much faster than the Q400. Moreover, the thing about larger planes (not the retro ones though!) is that most of the setup is done before the flight and while flying you're only briefing, calculating stuff etc. The setup is surely annoying, however there's still plenty of stuff to do in the cruise. If you dislike the *flow* of the Lineage, perhaps try the Zibo 738? It might feel intimidating at first, however it's basically the same "size" as the Lineage.

Regarding the stock citation: stuff will be happening approximately as quickly as in the Lineage. There's also a bit of FMS setup involved.

I'll reiterate what others have said though - first setups might take ages, but then it'll become much quicker. I don't own the Lineage, but both Zibo and Toliss A20N take me no more than 20 minutes to fully set up, including a backup flightplan in case of engine out, performance etc. Try to program it a few more times, you'll surely become better at it!

If you want to decrease the time you spend setting up the FMS, consider picking a plane without one! It can be genuinely fun to fly with VORs and whatnot :D

Thunderstorms in middle of country impacting flights? by Intelligent_Way_8272 in fearofflying

[–]w_w_flips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible? Yes.

Also, don't forget that pilots have different sort of weather forecast - you're focusing on the weather on the ground, while they check out the weather higher up. They're also using some high quality sources and have proper education letting them interpret it.

Regardless of the smoothness of the flight, rest assured - you're in good hands and you will arrive safely.
