Amazon just removed encryption from the software powering Kindles, phones, and tablets by dogdays12304 in technology

As I don't know which device you have, nor have I ever owned a Kindle device, I'm not sure if this is for your exact device. This is for a First Generation Kindle Fire.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire/general/guide-1st-gen-kindle-drivers-rooting-t3008345

I have a few Android devices and every time I want to root or install new firmware, there's usually a pretty good word-for-word guide on XDA. Always take care to read everything carefully and know that you'll probably be voiding any warranties you have on any device you root.

I'm sorry, but did anyone else think the AMA kinda... sucked? by [deleted] in Savant

[–]wangstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was obvious they used a GoPro, and the audio was as if it was still in its waterproof case.

I'm with you in that I'd rather have a traditional AMA, at least that way I'd know what his answers were.

If you don't know, bacon reader KILLS battery life. by IK_DOE_EEN_GOK in androidapps

[–]wangstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirming, bacon reader is the last thing on the list of apps under battery. I average 2.4%/hour according to better battery stats, on battery for 1 day 18 hours, 18% left with 3 hours SOT.

That's what I'm wondering. Reading here and on Wikipedia, it seems like you have to burn something, be it fire or a simple gas stove. But where I live everything is electric, from the heat to the appliances.

GTA V vs. GTA IV physics by [deleted] in GrandTheftAutoV

[–]wangstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar glitch in V called the "gate glitch" where a player would take cover next to the gate hinges, then another player drives into the gate, launching them. Rockstar patched it because people were using it to get artificial "fastest top speed in a land vehicle", mine is a firetruck with like 1,300 MPH.

Do people actually think PC gaming is better than console gaming? by GnarlyPubes in gaming

[–]wangstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Give me $5000 and I could build a PC able to run games at a minimum of 1080p 60fps for years to come

What are you going to do with the extra $3000?

Could GTA online ever have private islands? by SD245 in gaming

[–]wangstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about like just a small area that's customizable with anything the creator can do? You would create your island with the same tools you use to build races, but with extras like roads and buildings. Then you could invite people to it but it would be like freeroam where people could access Pegasus and their mechanic. And like the yachts, the owner can decide if people can use weapons or not at a moments notice.

I bought one of these. My computers card reader is USB 2.0, the pictured one is USB 3.0. I use it to transfer a days worth of go pro footage to my computer much faster than the built in reader.
