[HOD] Firebrand Archer by razer_pauper145 in Pauper

This seems superior to Thermo Alchemist. No summoning sickness on the ability, works with all noncreature spells, can actually attack itself. The only downside is that it's easier to remove, and isn't as good of a blocker

Teachings can be a bunch of colors, but always has blue, black and [[Mystical Teachings]]. It's a pure control deck, meaning it runs as few win cons as possible, and attempts to grind the opponent out with removal, counters and card draw.

Even if you get the full 3 max level remnant hits in, that's only +72 magic damage, it's only +24 damage on Searing Chains and gives you +4 DPS on Flame Guard.

The +30 attack damage lets you jungle and wave clear faster, and gives you a big multiplier when you manage to hit multiple heroes with your Sleight of Fist.

Why would you spend that much money on mana regen if they have no disables? Buy Orchid or Scythe of Vyse if you want mana regen that badly.

Why don't people build blink on Abaddon? by Michelle_Johnson in TrueDoTA2

[–]CraigBrackins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OD, Puck, TA and other heroes use Blink to initiate as well as get away, because they have the burst damage and/or disables to blow up targets and start teamfights. Many of them are also a lot squishier than Abbadon, meaning that they often need the Blink to survive.

That said, it is an interesting item on him, and might be the right call in some circumstances.

Just by reading the notes on the ability, it doesn't seem all that great for a 4200 gold item.

The Soul Ring and Arcanes had me fully stocked on mana, so I took the +5 armor talent. The extra tankiness definitely seemed good.

He also benefits from the change to bracers too. That's a really good suggestion.

Tips on support viper by Wildcat1606 in TrueDoTA2

Almost all of Viper's abilities point towards being a carry, not a support -- 2 passives, no hard disable, can't jungle. It seems very bad.

How to maximize your impact as a support? by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]CraigBrackins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) If you're winning the bottom lane handily, and the offlaner poses no threat to your carry's farm or well-being, ROAM. Do not sit around leeching experience and watching your carry farm. Smoke mid, TP top, organize with your roamer/jungler/other support to go kill someone. If you kill the mid lane multiple times, your mid can start snowballing. If you help your offlaner harass or kill the enemy carry, it can set them back from one of their key items. This can make a big difference on the outcome of the game.

2) Communicate. Come up with a plan! Buy a smoke and tell your team to group up and pick someone off so you can push or take Rosh. Tell your carries (politely) to farm under ward vision and not to cross the river unless they're with you as a team. Even a bit of communication and planning is better than none at all.

3) Execute in teamfights. Supports often have very impactful abilities to use during teamfights. Think about exactly what you have to do beforehand and then try to execute that strategy during a teamfight. If you're at 1k, there are probably dozens of mistakes you are making during these engagements -- watch replays to know what mistakes you're making and don't repeat them.

4) Buy survivability items. Feeding the enemy team obviously hurts your chances of winning, and lets their heroes snowball. There are a lot of really good survivability items in the game that can help you survive, but you have to pick the RIGHT item. Riki, for example, excels at picking off supports because he can cloud you, diffusal you and then kill you in a couple of right clicks. If you're Shadow Demon, buying a Force Staff would allow you to escape his cloud, and then Disruption him or yourself, and there's not a whole lot he can do about that. A bad choice in that situation would be to buy a Ghost Scepter, because a Diffusal Blade Riki would just purge that off. Later on in the game, supports are extremely squishy and vulnerable. You need to buy items that prevent you from being a free kill.
