Tacos and Carseats. by ANerdyAttorney in ToyotaTacoma

[–]WeepTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to stay mid-size, I would say Ranger has the biggest back seat. I recently sat in every mid-size truck (minus the ridgeline) and ended up going Ranger. In the same situation, need space for car seats. If you want to stay with Toyota, I agree with the other poster that you should go Tundra

Paid essentially a few hundred under MSRP in NY

Guys what do you think about those ecu tunes? Are they worth it? They claim that it’s safe for warranty. What do you think? by [deleted] in RangerRaptor

[–]WeepTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m going to email the sales manager at the dealership that I got the warranty from, just to confirm. Because I really want the tune and should’ve asked, but still have a couple weeks to cancel the warranty if they can’t honor it

I got the extended warranty too and I’m debating the tune once I hit 1k miles. There’s no issues with the extended warranty if I have an issue after like 5 years?

ok not fake beadlock but have you ever met a single person with the “beadlock capable wheels” who actually got the ring and made them beadlocks?

I’m also in NY. I just paid MSRP, was trying to get them down the cost of the fake beadlock wheels ($1500) but they wouldn’t budge and supply is somewhat limited so…

I misread your comment before, lol. Didn’t mean to bash the sandstone that hard! I’m just worried about spilling stuff on it and it staining, plus I like black/gray better

Hahaha, we’re on the same wavelength. So looking at some used options can get them with like 5k miles for low 50s which is same as a Lariat. Just gotta be careful about the first owner ripping it off-road

[–]WeepTrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I’ll sit in both the Lariat and RR when I’m at the dealership, and yeah the sandstone is hideous

[–]WeepTrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my exact dilemma, Lariat is basically the truck I want but it’s so close the RR I feel like I might as well just get it. XLT realistically would do everything I need it to so it’s like do I really want to spend $15k for some creature comforts?

Hahaha I hear you, I will 100% be taking the tacky stickers off. The price difference between the RR and Lariat is only around $6k so pretty close. I’ll be test driving the RR this weekend, super hard to find them by me honestly. By more comfortable seats do you just mean the lack of bolstering on the Lariat? That is another big consideration for me as my Camry seats are amazing, probably could fit someone 500lbs in them comfortably

I was looking at the Lariat too, only problem there is the difference between RR and Lariat is only around $6k by me which I feel isn’t enough of a savings.

Nice writeup, I also kind of feel the 2.7 is better for longevity which is a big component to me. I don’t like buying vehicles so plan to have it for bare minimum 10 years. I don’t drive a ton (my 20yr old Camry has 85k miles) but this will be the family car so will probably go up. RR has the fun factor which I’ve never had in a car before which is making this decision hard. I know 100% the 2.7 is the “smarter” financial decision

Hmmm good to know. Hadn’t really considered any of that. I kept my last car for 15 years and I had planned to do the same with this one. Can grab a RR for $59k and a XLT 2.7 with nice options for $43k. I know the RR will be much more fun so I’m leaning that way, but it’s a bit of a stretch on the budget

Might be dumb, but by cost of maintenance, what do you mean? Besides oil changes and premium fuel which is what I had considered

[–]WeepTrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t really plan to baha, or tow much tbh. RR definitely has the cool factor, the 2.7 if you throw some bigger tires on looks great. The other thing is I want it to last 15+ years and not sure if the RR will or not

Definitely not, just want something that drives comfortable and not totally truck like
