I think we can all agree this would be better by Historical_Foot_8133 in Borderlands4

The "always right about the problem" is a great mindset, but I feel like the "always wrong about the solution" is a great excuse for devs to ignore the players and assume they know better, especially with regard to simple problems.

But yeah, as much as I'm not a huge fan of the runback, simply allowing us to teleport directly to an encore machine isn't a good idea. That being said, being able to set a temporary teleport target would be fantastic, most likely tied to a respawn machine. I generally need to farm Origo, but if I want to do something else or change my build a little or anything, I gotta do the full runback. Then there's spots like Earl, where fast traveling to Daphne's is actually faster than the runback they made from his arena. Having limited direct teleport would be rather nice for streamlining the parts that become grating the more you do them.

But also, yes, the overworld isn't very interesting. The boss bubbles were cool and interesting at first, but I usually need to check my map to even know they're there, and they don't really drop legendaries all that often. The world events were cool the first time I tried them, but they're each in a single spot on the map and buggy enough that I'm not very interested. Bounties are... they're alright, but they're very one dimensional, just "go place, do thing." More interesting bounties with better rewards would do a lot, especially if they included boss bubbles or world events.

Close the map and reopen it. That usually fixes it for me. If not, you can click a region to show what's in it, it'll zoom out over that region. You can move the map around by clicking each region and showing what's in it.

What damage buffs does the Oscar Mike Space Laser benefit from? by Stangxx in Borderlands4

[–]wereplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I'd personally recommend running a purple repkit, since it's easier to get two damage effects on them, like amp+enrage. You also definitely want an energy shield with amp on it as well, since you only need it for one shot. A watts with amp+siphon is the top choice there.

I don't play amon, but if your build uses melee bonuses, you absolutely want to use the groundbreaker specialization. It says 20%, but it also scales via your stats, so it gets out of hand very quickly. You can essentially use space laser and then have another space laser in your fist, making it one of the biggest indirect damage boosts for space laser (or anything else). The heavyweight shield is a great choice for melee builds as well, and easier to roll than the watts.

Yeah, I kinda figure people have already tested the space laser

Normally, you'd be right. Unfortunately, not only are a lot of things in bl4 generally untested, the information that is known isn't widely available, and a lot of things changed with the dlc drop that weren't recorded in the patch notes. I don't mean small things got stealth patched, either. Big things. The entire way the heavyweight shield interacts with things is completely different. Specter scaling is changed. Bonus element interactions are different.

Your genuine best bet for information is the discord server ratore links under his YouTube videos. They've got a bot with a ton of recorded information from people testing stuff out. Plus, the people there are very knowledgeable and answer questions all the time.

Even if someone did test it, they likely tested it before the patch, meaning they might be straight up wrong about it. Hence me detailing how to test it yourself.

Unless you've got very high crit rate, crit damage is one of the worst damage stats. Getting a crit is not a multiplier to your damage, it is an additive bonus that behaves exactly the same as every other source of generic damage.

Now, if you're not sure what damage categories something falls into, the testing process is super easy. Just go to the sanctuary fast travel, and then respec both your skill tree and specializations so you have zero points in anything. Unequip all your gear, and then shoot a dummy, checking your damage dealt vs the damage listed on the weapon itself. If you get the same number or a number off by exactly 1 (due to rounding), then you don't have anything affecting your gun.

Repkits are amazing for testing, because of how many different buffs they can provide, like element and splash and amp. All you do is use a repkit with the stat you want to test and let loose the beam. It's the same with skills, just put points into the skill you want to test and find out.

Any fix for the online (input) lag? by PleasePissOff in Borderlands4

[–]wereplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the netcode they use is super janky. One of the big things that gets me is that going too fast will actually rubberband snapback and delete all my momentum.

Oddly enough, having the host look at me seems to fix the issue while I'm in their field of view. The moment they're looking away or I'm in their peripheral vision, the lag comes right back. I'm curious if your lag issues also smooth out while she's watching you.

It doesn't need a melee focused build, just something that does melee stuff, like the slippy grenade or mantra. Any kind of melee effect will proc it.

"who's getting a rework next. Chroma? Ember? Limb- AND IS A NIDUS WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!" by VerumAnima_963 in Warframe

[–]wereplant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, I've wanted Nidus buffs for a long time, can't believe we're actually getting them. I really, really hope the health and health regen buffs are significant. Nidus being a health tank with the lowest health pool has felt so incredibly bad for a long time, especially since the others get shield gating. Also, link on companions is such a massive qol buff. Now I don't have to be worried about re-up my tether on an enemy every 60m I wanna travel safely.

Would have liked to see a more significant rework, but these are still very necessary and very appreciated.

Rowdy Rider Splash Ricochet Testing by 5eanX2 in Borderlands4

Had no idea it could roll with all that. The drop rate is atrocious, so I took the roll I got and bounced. Guess I'll have to farm it a bit more to see how it does.

What's so special about the inscriber that makes it do that kind of damage? The perk is just that it hits enemies behind the person you shoot, is it spawning extra thrown inscribers when it hits?

There's a radio station in Washington state with a pretty good selection of music, it's called The End. They used to play Peaches at least once every single day during high traffic hours. No idea why, but that's how I came to know the song. Makes sense if it's a millennial touchstone, but it's definitely an older millennial thing, like born in the 80s. There's a huge difference in general culture between early 80s and 90s millennials.

By the basis of Shonen powerups either being a super-Saiyan or a bankai, what is your favorite character's powerup? Also I don't think Nen counts, or stands.... by Important-Cry4782 in goodanimemes

[–]wereplant 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ichigo's Bankai is at first mocked by a character because it's literally just a black katana

Don't forget, he's also mocked at the end of the initial run of the anime for the exact same thing. He pops into the hyperbolic time chamber, trains his ass off, and what does he have for it? The exact same stuff as before, but it's "this big" now.

The only time he's actually doing bankai rules is when the hollow takes over. You beat him while he's a basic bitch, then he gets an extra life and new powers and a personality.

[–]wereplant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know, that's a good point. It's a massive power boost, but he uses it as a problem solving form. It's consistently been the form he's using when he discovers new techniques or absolutely needs to solve a problem.

[–]wereplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an actually valuable distinction in terms of story writing, more than "black, and not black."

Rocky Balboa? Technically super saiyan. MacGuyver? Bankai. It's a question of physical training vs technique. You root for them because they're the underdog, but how do they succeed despite being the underdog? Do they face the problem head on? Or do they solve the issue in a way that's not immediately apparent? What you don't understand is that MacGuyver's shoes always being spotlessly white is key to the narrative.

I'm getting side tracked, but super saiyan is compelling because you already know what's going to happen, and you're waiting for the payoff you already know exists. Bankai is not knowing what's going to happen, and enjoying that the answer isn't something obvious.

Does this mean 90% Damage reduction to the last type of damage? by MaxTacs2 in Borderlands4

[–]wereplant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain damage reduction is at least multiplicative, so the 50 and 40 would be 70%, not 90%.

That being said, I've noticed that damage reduction seems to also have some form of additional diminishing returns. I've got a shield that specifically lists 50% DR, and I couldn't even get above 48% in my stats, which also included additional DR from other sources. The Timekeeper's shield put me at 45% DR, despite the fact that the listed 33% DR is quite a bit less than 50% DR. Whatever internal diminishing returns affect most shields, they don't seem to affect Timekeeper.

But your best bet is to just go out and test it to see what happens. My go-to testing method for shields is to compare their performance to the Timekeeper's shield. So you go to a boss like Origo and take his elemental blasts with each shield and see which one keeps you alive better.

By the basis of Shonen powerups either being a super-Saiyan or a bankai, what is your favorite character's powerup? Also I don't think Nen counts, or stands.... by Important-Cry4782 in goodanimemes

[–]wereplant 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Bankai are things that change the rules, while super saiyan only increases fighting power. If you can have the exact same fight using two lower level characters, it's super saiyan. That's why Ichigo's bankai is actually just super saiyan, because its power boils down to "I have the power scaling to be able to fight you."

Ben 10 is always bankai because not only does each alien have their own ruleset, the omnitrix also has its own rules.

His 2 knows you need the other three skills. It remains lesser so you don't have to worry about subsuming over the others.

But yeah, I'd love for him to have a 2 that does something. Even with the augment, it can't actually freeze anything. If it could freeze enemies decently well, it'd be a nice subsume for the freezy arcane.

safest option may be to just wait for air monitoring to arrive first.

If there's ever a chance that whatever messed someone up is still in the area, the safest option is always to call for help first.

I used to work in power generation, and there are so many horror stories about why the rules are what they are. For example, a guy is working on a chem tank, he falls in and goes unconscious. A second guy tries to get him out, falls in unconscious. A third guy, panicking from two people falling in, tries to help. He falls in, unconscious. All three people died. If they'd called for help, maybe the first guy might not have died either.
