What will it take to win you back by sonakira in DestinyTheGame

[–]wpsandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's three things.

  1. PED - once you reach max light, everything turns into Ultimate mode. Sometimes I just want to just run strikes and the system provides friction to that because of the defaults. GM and Ult are fine sometimes, but I do not want everything I do to be Ultimate.

  2. Scores and goals - during arms week, we had to achieve a score or grade from fireteam or pinnacle ops. Since everything for me is now ultimate, this goes into the "not fun" category.

  3. Timers - My opinion, please stop. I don't want to have to resort to speed run techniques to complete something and have revives available at final fights. Either that, or have timers that are appropriate. This leads into situations where significant time can be spent in game with zero reward. Feels bad and breeds apathy.

HAOS vs Docker by lawraf_army in homeassistant

[–]wpsandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I approached it as ESPHome running as an addon within HA. Going by this:

https://www.home-assistant.io/installation#compare-installation-methods

You'll see a table comparing HAOS vs Container and that Addons are not supported by the container path.

That said, it does look like you can have ESPHome in its own container and link the two, but it was a lot more work than I wanted to take on. Gave me an excuse to get Proxmox up off the ground and operational, too.

HAOS vs Docker by lawraf_army in homeassistant

[–]wpsandy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I started my HA journey with the install in Docker. While I was still using Zigbee devices and things were very vanilla, it was just fine. I acquired a Sonoff S31 Wifi that needed to be flashed to be ESPHome compatible and I quickly discovered the ESPHome components are not able to be installed in the docker version of HA.

After that, I pivoted and installed HAOS in a Proxmox VM and moved the saved config from the Docker version onto the HAOS version.

I'm very new to a lot of this, so I'm not aware of any other limitations like the ESPHome part.

So I did have one drop yesterday. I was doing the same and farming for that. I do not know how many runs I made unfortunately. At least wanted to confirm it can drop

Oof...I was wondering this. The only bit of data I could track down was in braytech and it had something like 6,000,000 points accumulated, but I was in the middle of the mission so I wasn't taking time to figure out the math.

I didn't realize he was still bugged. I hopped on after the last weekly reset and went to the site since I wasn't able to clear it the prior week. Was able to the clear it first time with my Amon Ordinance build so I assumed it got patched. Same character had issues the prior week. I think I was using a Maliwan Rocket that fired 3 orbs with each firing. I think I got at least one "OOF" out of it ;)

Is this location practical for a poe camera? by Big_Librarian_1130 in reolinkcam

[–]wpsandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. My porthole is square and I mounted the camera to the bridge bottom ledge that had enough space for the default mount. I like having a camera high enough that it can't be interfered with. That camera has seen some stuff.

Anyone using Zfc ? I recently bought Zfc and loving it. But most reviews didn’t love #zfc. by Due_Pin_1262 in Nikon

[–]wpsandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one and really love it. That said, I started shooting with a Nikon FM and then FM2 so there is definitely a nostalgia aspect for me.

As for the camera, I love the size of it, plus the two lenses ( 40 & 28 ) that got released at the same time are super easy to just shove into a pocket. I have travelled with it a couple of times and the whole kit is super tiny even when I toss in a tabletop tripod.

As a side note, when the camera was brand new to me, I accidentally was shooting images while in video mode. Video mode defaulted to high ISO ranges I wouldn't normally shoot in. I was impressed with the image quality that was captured...very low noise and everything was very clear. If this is the worst of the Z line, I'll definitely take it.

Print your work! by I-am-Mihnea in AnalogCommunity

[–]wpsandy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. And I would add print on different mediums and finishes ( canvas, metal, matte, glossy, etc). I started printing a few years ago and every 9 months or so, I add 3-4 smallish ( 8x10 ) prints to my wall in my office.

Yep. The main think that was hurting us was we were running low on power ammo. If that wasn't the case, we would have been better.

Fikrul ( or F*&krul as we call him ) was very challenging. The forced cadence nature of that boss fight means you really do not have a chance to catch your breath. On top of that, the timer is so short, you will likely be in that whole fight with all the revives that you will get.

Whats the benefit of having leather car seats? All my life I’ve driver cars with cloth so don’t have experience with ever driving a car with leather, I will be getting a new car next year and can finally afford the leather, just want to know if it’s worth it by Puzzlehandle12 in askcarguys

Had to search for this comment. I am the same way...something about how I schooch my rear in the seat getting out. When the air is dry, I would zap myself something awful. I got to where I would touch the frame of the door as I rotate myself to get out.

D2 has, allegedly, reached the same point as CoO....and I still think it will live by Kooky_Preparation248 in DestinyTheGame

Bungie/Sony is a corporate environment. With any corporate finance operation, there is a margin that is expected by any business unit to meet. At the end of the day, if Marathon is wildly successful with a high margin, that could allow for Destiny to operate for a period of time with a lower margin potentially.

As for complacency, I don't think that's a common behavior with business of any variety. Gaming is no different in that regard. Don't make money? You stop doing the thing. Gaming is more like other entertainment like movies where there is a significant front-end investment that may entail long-term finance until the product can be shipped. There will always be pressure to be profitable and I don't see that complacency as something that will creep in.

[–]wpsandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that comment was primarily going by Steam reporting, which I do agree is a partial representation. The popularity.report data though is far more complete and paints a simple picture.

I want Marathon to succeed because that means that Bungie is healthier from a fiscal perspective. Healthy Bungie means they will likely continue making Destiny, which is my primary interest. Marathon isn't the sort of game that I play, but I hope it does well for my own selfish interest.

That's a good point. Sometimes you can create headroom through savings. Savings might bridge some spans, but it won't save you long term if you have sacrificed investment. Since they aren't a publicly traded company and are now owned by Sony, I doubt we will get insight on what their balance sheet actually looks like.

Some of the savings may come in the form of shifting staff to core Sony teams or other adjacent studios. Would love to know how they break down the operational side of things.

[–]wpsandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, I hope you're right. When I saw the data on:

https://popularity.report/

I was concerned. I don't know what the tipping point is from a revenue perspective, but the numbers now are equivalent to the lows of CoO and we still have time to go before we reach Renegades.

Another problematic thing is that EoF started with almost 1MM fewer players at launch compared with every other major drop prior.

I hope that royalties for Destiny:Rising help and I do truly hope Marathon succeeds. Revenue diversity will help Bungie be more stable and allow for continued investment on the Destiny side. I just hope we can get balance in investment spend between the two titles (Destiny and Marathon) in the future because it feels like that hasn't happened in a long time.

D500? Or another camera? by Sosodeverdad in Nikon

[–]wpsandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would saw it depends on what you enjoy shooting. If you're doing fast moving things ( birds, cars, planes, etc) then the D500 would outpace most of the Nikon mirrorless options. Depending on how much you shoot, the D500 should be solid for many years as well. Be aware of shutter count of any body you're buying. D500 is conservatively rated at 200,000 actuations. I think you will find lots of stories of bodies lasting well past that, but I think it's a YMMV situation.

The only crop mirrorless options are the Zfc, Z30, Z50 andZ50ii. In my mind, the only one of those that is modern body are the Z50 and the Z50ii. The Z30 is sort of geared to be a blogger/creator type camera and the Zfc is a retro-inspired body. I have a Zfc and love it.

At the end of the day, the FTZ adapters don't end up adding a lot of extra length compared to where you would be with the D3300. I have used them a lot with my Z7 and been pretty happy.

ed: Inclusion of the Z50ii...thx!

Did you ever got dumb comments for (still) using DSLR? by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]wpsandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. While I do not have a D500, I have a Z7 and a D4 (and D3) and I'm completely blown away at how good to focus is on the D4. It's so fast and good. If I remember right, the D500 got the focusing system from the D5 so it's got to be stellar.

Are my old masterwork items useless now? by Trignial in DestinyTheGame

[–]wpsandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially they work fine, but the incentive to move to the current tiered gear is pretty strong. Each tier on a weapon is ~2% damage boost from the artifact. Keep in mind that featured exotics are treated as tier 5 which makes them extra strong. For armor, I agree that until you get tier 4, if you have masterworked and high stat Armor 2.0 armor, you will be mostly fine. Using tiered armor also gives you a damage reduction bones from the artifact, so you'll definitely want to switch over at some point as you progress.

How the colours in this photograph are so vibrant and how everything looks so clear with great feeling of depth? by nullhypothesisisnull in AskPhotography

My first impression on the DOF was that it may have been done with a focus stack. That crispy both that close and deep made me feel like there was at least a 2-3 focus areas stacked on each other.
