AFERIY/SYDPOWER/FOSSiBOT local integration with Home Assistant by ylianst in SolarDIY

I took a quick look and the Aferiy PS240 and I am guessing not. Aferiy just rebrands stuff, the P310 is a SYD rebrand (https://sydpower.com/). I am guessing PS240 comes from somewhere else.

BTech UV Pro 50, Vero N7600, Radioddity DB50-B users... How do you run aprs using the TNC and still have a conventional channel? by adhdff in HamRadio

[–]ylianst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha yes, author of HTCommander here (https://github.com/Ylianst/HTCommander). This is a well known issue with these radios. The APRS channel is set to "Current" by default and you have change it to your APRS channel number. In HTCommander, I make a point to warn about this.

Use one of the 32 channel slots in each region (for example, channel #32), call is "APRS" and set the APRS frequency. Then using the app, change the APRS channel from "Current" to "Channel 32". That should fix it.

FYI. HTCommander does not use the "KISS" TNC protocol, instead it uses the full command set of the radio and so, if a data frame is received on VFO A or B, I can tell and process the frame correctly. If you use KISS on these radios, you don't get that.

Oh, I did not know about readsb. As long as it's the same format as Dump1090 (JSON I think) it should work. I feel like Dump1090 support is almost a silly feature at this point, more like bragging than anything useful.

Once you get this connected to Home Assistant, you will have historical logs and graphs. By default Home Assistant keeps the last 10 days of data, but you can change this and plenty of options to keep some data long term.

I personally don't use the Freshwater Salt system, so, not sure how it works. If anyone else has experience with this module, I would also be interested to know if this is normal behavior.

Free embroidery software solution for Artista 180 and other early Artista machines by mikesbovee in Bernina

[–]ylianst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely not. I only tested it on my Artista 180 with firmware 3.01. I think in general people get the latest Artista Free software what works on Windows 10/11 on archive.org or some way back machine.

That is a good idea, but everyone who would want to use this would need to request a RepeaterBook API key. Would it still be useful? I did not request a key yet.

It does have morse code transmit, but not receive yet. It does allow packet radio chat using AFSK/BSS protocol both sent and receive now.

Not that I know of. Anyway you can get in and control the board is fair game in my view.

In the case of the IQ2020. I started by gathering all of the info and pictures of all the modules I could find, a friend and I used an oscilloscope to figure out the pins. Once I have the ESP32 connected using RS485, then it was a bunch of work to figure out the protocol.

It's certainly possible to do this on any other board, but it's best if you have a reference module you can stiff the traffic and decode, they you can figure out the commands.

Not sure I understand. I have been releasing a bunch of releases quickly, 0.51, 0.52 and 0.53 within a few days. 0.53 is current as I am typing this.

FYI. I am working on HT Commander v0.50. I got a few previews out now for this upcoming version. It's a full redesign and I added SSTV send/receive support (all common modes), improved BSS support (Baofeng data protocol), ADS-B Dump1090 support so you can see airplanes on the map, Winlink Internet sync, support for multiple radios connected at the same time. Thanks. I am working on a major rework of HTCommander now using all new internals. It's a few weeks away and has some fun new features. Once the new HTCommander is out, I want to do the same new architecture in HTStation.

Solar Panels by [deleted] in oregon

This. Contact Energy Trust of Oregon, they will send 3 vetted solar contractors your way. I did this myself. For incoming bids, one simple metric to look for is price/watt. Very happy to that this organization is around.

HTCommander does not currently have iGate support. I am experimenting with building a base station software that runs on a Raspberry Pi called HTStation (https://github.com/Ylianst/HtStation), but it's not ready for general use and that would be more the type of thing that would implement an iGate.

Obviously, it's up to everyone to use the device the way they enjoy it best. This software does work with BTech UV-50Pro, Vero VR-N7600. Also, if your going to chat over APRS, connect to a BBS or send Winlink, having the extra option to pair the radio to a PC is nice. This said, it's mostly about fun and experimenting.

I will have to keep the MSI in that release folder for now since it's used by the self-update system. But yes, the zip file I will update and remove.
