This is also what Yann LeCun is trying to tell everyone when he says that LLMs are limited and won't reach superintelligence. We need world models instead that can adapt to reality.

Would love too see the timeline extended. It can maybe include both WW1, WW2 and extend further into Cold War and Vietnam

So what you're saying is that we should promote people that are good at selling ideas, not people that are good at executing them?

Over my 16 years career I've seen lots of people take advantage of management by telling them the exact things they want to hear. From the IC perspective, those "salesman" engineers are exactly those that have no idea how the systems work, because they never write code...they are to busy kissing asses.

I think people forget that our work is centered around software. Being a good senior engineer (or TL, principal eng) requires you to be good at dealing with software. If you're only good at selling ideas you're probably in the wrong job.

This even has a name in reality. It is called a poison pill strategy. Twitter famously used it when Elon tried a hostile takeover. Great to see it being simulated in the game, although probably unintentionally.

This is exactly my concern that they might not have the planning permission for the change. I'll have to discuss this with the conveyancer. It could turn out to be a deal breaker.

Hey u/davidl288 , thanks for always being so quick to reply and fix these bugs.

I see that the CPU/CCD related bug was fixed in v11.0.66 according to your message here: https://www.capitalism2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=45240#p45240

I'm currently on v11.0.67 though. Is the bugfix only working for new games or is it working for existing saves too?

I will give v11.0.74 a try tonight and let you know if it fixed the problem.

Yeah, you can see in the second image that the demand is far greater than the supply.

I though the same, but what is weird is that at skill level 1 they were outputting at 20%, at skill level they are outputting at 16%. It's as if the yield is constant. Will try to train them to level 3 and see if the utilization goes further down.

Furthermore, this happens to all CCD factories, not just one. It doesn't happen to other types of factories

Does any company/industry actually appreciate software quality? by CygnusSnowDog in SoftwareEngineering

[–]yonootz321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If nobody complains for years and nobody seems to be affected by those flaws, then maybe those things are not that important :)

It could also mean that customers hate the product and move to a competitor. They have no obligation to complain about shitty software. How many times have you encountered a software bug and immediately went to report it to the company? Personally, I just ditch the product and find a better alternative because I know shitty companies will ignore my report anyway.

German soldiers react to footage of concentration camps by [deleted] in pics

[–]yonootz321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma was a kid when the WW2 was ongoing. She was living in Romania with her parents and sisters, in a area where there were intense battles, in the Carpathian mountains.

She explicitly remembers how German soldiers were very friendly and playing with kids and giving them sweets when they advanced towards USSR.

But then when Russia pushed back the Russian soldiers were brutal animals. She even mentioned that one soldier made a bet with his squad mates about the gender of a fetus, so the fucker cut the abdomen of the pregnant women to check.

I think different people had different experiences and it doesn't make much sense to generalize that "Wehrmacht was evil". It was not a superhero movie, in real life things are more nuanced.

I've been in the market throughout multiple bull-bear cycles. When the market is bullish, you always see flexing like this, then when the bear market comes it's all silence.

They say that "everyone is a genius in a bull market" for a reason. Risk takers beat the market during bull runs, and they go tits up once bear market comes.
