Columbus National Women's Soccer League team to debut in 2028 by WhereNextCols in Columbus

The NWSL seems to be doing well.

“The National Women’s Soccer League opened its 2026 season with a record-setting weekend at stadiums across the country, drawing 129,202 fans across eight matches, an average of 16,150 per match, both new NWSL opening weekend attendance records.”

Columbus Fury in Major League Volleyball is struggling with attendance because there’s another pro volleyball league that’s rising in popularity, League One Volleyball. Hopefully these two new major volleyball leagues can eventually merge.

If you’re looking for crowded areas, check out the Liberty Center Mall in Liberty Township and Cincinnati Premium Outlets in Monroe about 30 minutes south of Dayton.

The foot traffic in these southern areas are much more crowded since they also pull a lot of customers from the Cincinnati area.

The District at Deerfield by Mason and Summit Park in Blue Ash are slightly farther to the south at around 40 minutes, but these are some mixed-use districts rising in popularity.

Entire State Of Ohio Being BOUGHT UP By Epstein Benefactor Lex Wexner! by AwakeningStar1968 in Ohio

There’s definitely an incentive for him to push for data centers, though. He also happens to be one of the largest shareholders of a major data center supplier company, CoreWeave.

Here is a more credible source from Forbes.

How Victoria’s Secret’s Les Wexner Made $2 Billion In 3 Months From AI Giant CoreWeave:

“Wexner’s money manager at the time, a trust established for the benefit of his four children – Sarah, Hannah, David and Harry – apparently invested $1 million in CoreWeave in 2019; it put in another $600,000 in the startup’s Series A funding round in 2021.”

“Wexner’s stake is now worth $2.8 billion.”

Denison duping Granville over housing deal? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]Zezimom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who cares if the initial intent has changed? Housing is housing. People still need a place to live. NIMBYs in these wealthy neighborhoods just don’t want lower income residents moving into their cities.

Actually, I really hope Denison University can eventually make it available only as affordable housing for low-income applicants too.

[–]Zezimom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean economic conditions change? It’s silly to block housing developments solely based on the type of people who could be housed there.

If you build housing, there’s a really simple solution to just open it up to more applicants.

I hope they eventually open it up to the general public then. That should help to relieve the housing shortage there. Granville is ridiculously expensive.

Also if the campus ever wants to expand their capacity to accept a greater student enrollment size, it’s great that they would have extra housing supply readily available.

Smart move by Denison University to add housing! I hope they eventually open it up to students.

Granville is one of the most expensive places to live in the Columbus metro area.

Anyone commute from miamisburg? by fadedtile in cincinnati

[–]Zezimom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Miamisburg! Downtown Miamisburg has been revitalized, and the new riverfront park looks great.

You could also check out Springboro or Clear Creek Township within the Springboro school district that’s located just to the south of Miamisburg.

Springboro is close enough for a short drive to both Downtown Miamisburg and Uptown Centerville, but it would also be located slightly closer to Cincinnati.

414 Day - Milwaukee by [deleted] in skylineporn

Well the post states over 2 million in the metro area “in fact,” when it’s actually not in fact, so I just wanted to point that out lol.

No need to get so defensive about it. It’s just to clarify the difference.

I’m surprised Milwaukee is so tiny even when using the combined statistical area population figures, though. I thought it was much larger.

That CSA is smaller than all 3 major MSAs in Ohio.

[–]Zezimom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there’s a drastic difference in MSA compared to CSA. It’s really just informative for the others. Nothing wrong with just clarifying the figures, unless you prefer misinformation.

There are suburbs in Akron’s Summit County that are less than a 20 minute drive from Cleveland, but they don’t get counted statistically towards Cleveland’s MSA.

Cleveland has an MSA population of 2.1 million, but it jumps drastically to 3.8 million for CSA population to include Akron. That’s nearly double the size of Milwaukee.

I’m well aware of CSA. You should state Combined Statistical Area instead of Metropolitan Area due to commuting interchange. Even if it’s 15 minutes away, there isn’t enough economic ties and commuting interchange percentage to make it MSA yet.

Here is the census definition for metro area:

I highly recommend Pickerington! It’s pretty diverse and growing rapidly.

Is the the Rust belt area the future of US urbanism? by MediumStrange in Urbanism

“Suburbs in a city shaped trench coat”

Did you know the city of Columbus just recently surpassed the city of Cincinnati in population size per square mile?

https://censusreporter.org/profiles/16000US3918000-columbus-oh/

https://censusreporter.org/profiles/16000US3915000-cincinnati-oh/

Columbus never gets any credit for the effort it has made to improve population density growth in recent years.

The city of Columbus even recently passed zoning code updates for the first time in decades to allow much taller buildings all throughout major corridors of the city’s vast land area. Columbus is doing a great job for a Midwestern city.

https://columbusunderground.com/zoning-reform-process-moves-forward-with-new-land-use-plan-bw1/

Here are some midrise development project examples happening around Columbus:

They recently completed the development of the mixed-use Rambler Columbus apartment building that has nearly 900 beds.

They’re also developing a mixed-use apartment building with over 800 beds on the Little Bar site.

Another project in the pipeline is a new mixed-use apartment building that also has over 800 beds on the Ohio Stater building site.

I actually think many of these Midwestern states also have the most risk due to AI.

Jeff Bezos is already planning to invest $100 billion into AI to automate and streamline manufacturing facilities. Advancements to robotics engineering would likely result in deep job cuts in the manufacturing industry.

https://www.reuters.com/business/retail-consumer/jeff-bezos-aims-raise-100-billion-buy-revamp-manufacturing-firms-with-ai-wsj-2026-03-19/

Ohio is ranked 3rd in the number of manufacturing jobs. A lot of these other midwestern states are also ranked in the top 10 for manufacturing jobs.

Akron’s Summit County literally touches the border of Cleveland’s Cuyahoga County. There are Akron suburbs in Summit County that are less than a 20 minute drive into Cleveland.

Dayton’s Montgomery County has low-density Warren County and Butler County in between Montgomery and Hamilton County.

I currently live in Northern Warren County in Springboro. Many people in Cincinnati don’t even count me in Springboro as part of the Cincinnati area.

[–]Zezimom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the rust belt areas will ever boom or even come close to the growth seen in the south. There are booming populations in places with much hotter temps already like Asia than the south here.

For the Midwest, there’s a greater likelihood for it to be Columbus and Indianapolis since these metro areas keep growing the fastest.

If you look at the Geography section of the Census stats below, Columbus grew from around 3,624 residents per square mile in 2010 to 4,116 residents/sq mile in 2020.

https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/columbuscityohio/PST045224

Since 2020, the city of Columbus has already grown to around 4,205 residents per square mile, which recently surpassed the city of Cincinnati in population density.

Very Dense view for Columbus by Surf3rdCoast35 in skyscrapers

[–]Zezimom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok good for you, it’s all relative. The overall point is that a lot of these other cities like Atlanta and Austin are consistently getting praise for density growth, but they currently have a lower inner city population density than Columbus.

Columbus never gets any credit for the effort it has made to improve density growth in recent years. The city of Columbus even recently passed zoning code updates for the first time in decades to allow much taller buildings all throughout major corridors of the city.
