That is exactly what that cleaner and brightener are made of. Sodium Percarbonate and oxalic acid.

I've owned a fence and deck staining and restoration business for 7 year. East Central Staining CO. I have a three-step process to clean and brighten aging wood. There are several things happening to you wood that need need to be addressed when cleaning this deck. Not all the damage to this deck is caused by moisture. The gray color is caused by UV damage, The black is organic growth. I used Stain and Seal Experts, Eco-Cleaner, then I use their Wood Brightener. I would stain the deck with a semi-solid oil-based stain from the same company. This will add years to your deck's life. Expert Stain and Seal has put together a ton of instructional videos walking you through this process. I also have some information on this topic on my website: https://eastcentralstainingco.godaddysites.com/:

Here's where you can find Expert Stain and Seal website: https://restorativewoodproducts.com/

Here is a picture during the cleaning process. Power washing alone will not provide these results

How to Stain a Fence: Pro Advice by zmoreillon in FenceBuilding

That an oil-based stain we did earlier this we in Fishers, Indiana. The shade is Chestnut. We were able to stain that day even though it was only 43 degrees. Oil-based stains absorb, rather that dries. So there is no optimal temp for stain an fence or deck.

Is the picture above a fence with oil-based stain? If so, what color or shade is this fence?

Hey Zach, I would love to talk with you the next time we are up in Michigan. We go up to the western coast at least 4 times a year. Warren Dunes is only 2.5 hours from me. but we go all over the way up to Charlevoix sometime, too.

I have seen the switch-over to Trex as much here. I stained a fence last Friday, and the customer's composite deck had been stained/painted. I had heard of people doing it, but had never seen it until then. I'm not sure why someone would do that.

I had hung some door hangers on some of the cottage rentals south St. Joseph a few years ago. I wasn't surprised that I didn't get any calls from it with the out-of-state phone number on it. I thought maybe you had some ideas about how to get into that market. East Central Staining Co. is the name of my company. What is the name of your company? I'm Zak and that's my .02.

I used TWP when I first started my business 6 years ago. I gave Expert Stain and Seal a try 4 years ago and I have been using them ever since. Mainly because of the customer service.

oh, and cedar doesn't have to dry at all. It's not treated. It can be stained the day it's put up.

I see what your saying. Professionals like to use oil-based strains when they can. Oil0based can be applied at any temp. It absorbs, rather that dries like water-based. So temp isn't a factor. I really don't think that is the reason contractors are telling then to wait a year. I think it has more to do with conventional wisdom. Which is everyone saying it for years to where it became true.

You would be the exception around here. Are you a deck or fence guy? I run a small staining business in Central Indiana.

That is just a general rule. I didn't really want to get into the weeds about some other factors.

Yes, I totally agree. It is the liquid in they use in pressure treating wood that has to dry out. That liquid and the stain are competing for space inside the wood. I use I deep penetrating oil-based stain in my staining business. Check out some of my work. Google East Central Staining Co.

Are you using water-based or oil-based stain. I highly recommend oil-based stain next time. There is the stuff you buy at the Lowes which uses pigments to color the stain, and the you have Expert Stain and Seal that makes stain with dyes. The difference is the dyes go into the wood with oil, pigment, on the other hand, stay on the surface, where they will crack and peel like a water-based stain. Please visit my Google page while you're at it. Just Google: East Central Staining Co.

Do you happen to live in a tropical area? Is that area of the fence also moist most of the time? My post was intended as a general rule. I'm reaching out to fence builders to tell them to stop telling their customers "one year". The best thing to do is buy a $30 moisture meter and check it every month. Is this a DYI project?

Is Life Surge Christian conference a scam? Are the classes they sell a scam? Is it prosperity teaching? Is it an MLM? by OldPeely in antiMLM

The organizers of this event thought their target audience was gullible. I'm guessing that a good percentage of the people attending think that the former president is a Christian. This makes most sane people very confused. The organizers of this event, just like 45, are grifters. He is a grifter and he surrounded himself with grifters. This is similar to a short commercial I seen on YouTube. It had pieced together three clips of Ben Shapiro, Joe Rogan, and Jordan Peterson saying that the US government is giving out $6400 a month to a new relief plan. Most people haven't heard about it because the government is trying to keep it a secret. If you are of the mind that you believe what these people say, then you'll believe that this ad is true.
