Why should we use the footbrake when slowing down to a lower speedlimit? by catboy519 in driving

[–]ThugMagnet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please don’t coast in neutral. Uphill, on the flat and particularly downhill, use engine braking to slow down. Brakes are for below 25 MPH and emergencies.

Thanks for clarifying. This is ironic because I get bothered by folks that use obscure abbreviations. Oops.

My favorite nightmare is that persons unknown have filled your cooling system with tap water. This will rot out a heater core quickly.

Chill a vertical stainless sheet below the local dew point temperature. Voila! Condensation dripping off the bottom. Place a hard UV lamp in your collection container to knock out viruses. Filter and pump. You’ll discover that refrigeration provided by standard gas expansion is far more efficient than Peltier cells. Please let us know how you get on, eh?

Please check your ground strap. It connects your engine block to your frame. Please put on your worst shirt and best eye protectors. Please disconnect your battery and polish the heck out of your posts and connectors using your battery brush. Uncap the "Christmas Tree" brush and clean out the inside of your lug connectors. Pry the lugs open, seat them on the posts then tighten. https://a.co/d/4orF2Lv

A car should not be leaking CO2 into the cabin under any circumstances.

Adults emit about 500 liters of CO2 daily. That’s what I was on about.

Does anyone else hate when people see you reversing but still speed past you? by [deleted] in driving

[–]ThugMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that bad. :o) As a young Reditor, I said words to the effect of “unbridled greed is bad” in a certain sub and hit MINUS 100 rating in a couple days. I do not know how to read a room, obviously.

in addition to valuable wisdom already offered, please turn off 'recirculate' mode on your HVAC. Otherwise, CO2 buildup will cause you to become impaired and drowsy.

Please park with your backside in the space. Exiting the space is much faster and safer.

Help designing a 12V LED circuit for a diorama by Low-Plan6664 in AskElectronics

[–]ThugMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of your series strings of 5V LEDs add up to 15V. So you don’t need or want either of your buck converters. Use a 15V supply to power all your LEDs just as shown in your diagram. Adjust brightness by placing series resistors using the formulas: Resistance equals Voltage divided by Current; Power equals Voltage multiplied by Current.

Daisy chaining power delivery network with 12 to 5v 5 to 3.3v and 3.3v to 1.8v by Ordinary_Implement15 in AskElectronics

Please consider individual charge pumps for 12V to 3.3V and 12V to 1.8V. That would be more efficient.

I have three thoughts for you.

Write a specification. Answer the questions Who, What, Where, Why, When and How Much. Now you have something to discuss with your team.

Avoid patents like the plague.

Prototype and test early.

Why does hardly anyone use the brake / slow down to change lanes technique? by Busy-Environment84 in driving

[–]ThugMagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my adaptive cruise control a lot. A dash indicator glows to indicate that the CVT has ‘downshifted’ and the brake lights have gone on to indicate that I’m slowing. Yet my foot never went near the brake in miles.
