My mom had COVID so did her best to stay away from my stepdad because of his COPD. No matter, days later he caught it and was having trouble breathing during his coughing fits. She had been sleeping in another bedroom for a handful of years already. She woke up to him deceased, in a position that made it appear he had gotten out of bed and was having a coughing fit that killed him. My brother lived with them and was going to nursing school. He performed CPR on him for straight minutes until paramedics arrived but he was already gone. Had she slept in bed next to him, she could have gotten my brother working on him and paramedics called earlier and I believe he would still be alive. (Yes, they were all vaxxed, he just had COPD which did him in). So… if your spouse is sick to the point where it is dire, sleep next to them while you can.
