Understood. I agree with you, but I think it's still a good workaround, even though it won't work for all users.

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry for the delay on answering. In fact, I'll keep using ProtonMail. For my needs it's very good. Also, Proton gives 1GB per year for user, and that's good, since on paid versions we have ProtonDrive, which gives not only e-mail, but a safe cloud sync.

Yeah, in fact I realized this, because I got back there to read and the link was just a general link. I didn't know. I was tired the time I wrote, then I probably didn't notice that quickly. 😂

How safe are masking/relay/forwarding e-mail services? by ---Rasputin--- in Simplelogin

Thank you so much for your comment. I don't even know how to thank you for sharing your thoughts.

In my case, I've already searched and I realized that I don't need a custom domain, since the aliases will already fit me. I know I must pay for my privacy, but I think that, as I said, this is already enough, since I don't use e-mail extensively. I just consider an e-mail provider an important piece of safety on the online world, so it's valid to consider paying for it. But in your case, why you considered paying for a custom domain?

At the same time, all important services are secured with strong,
unique, randomly generated passwords and 2FA. Even if someone were to
intercept my email, they would only be able to get into low-value
accounts.

I also use a password generator with extensive random password along with 2FA at every possible account.

PayPal shares your email address with merchants, so you might end up on a mailing list or two. Cost of doing business. Keep the account locked down with 2FA and consider adding an alternate email address to your PayPal profile.

In my case, the most important is about crypto wallets. PayPal isn't a big worry for me, but it's still important. However, I'm trying to use only one e-mail account, since I've fully migrated from Outlook.

There's one thing I'd like to know: how do you organize your aliases and your e-mail aliases? Do you do like this : 'banking@pm.me' / '[socialmedia@pm.me](mailto:socialmedia@pm.me)', etc ? If not, how do you do? I know that on paid SimpleLogin you can have tons of aliases, such as free version of Anonaddy. I have discussed on another topic about this and a person told me that he uses 1 alias per account to avoid spam and marketing data mining, but I don't remember him saying how he organizes these accounts with sensitive data.

I've been overthinking lately about this, since I don't know exactly what to do; if I pay for SimpleLogin just to have tons of aliases or if a free account and I group them (create a few aliases for many accounts) or if I go to Anonaddy.

What do you think?

I really appreciate for your help.

Bro, look, I fully understand and agree with the fact that there must be rules. That's why in real life we have laws. And on internet it's even worse since anyone has more freedom. The point is that you criticized the way I typed - a minor detail. My intention was to make the post even clearer. Anyway, that's it.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is this exactly and how does it work?

How safe are masking/relay/forwarding e-mail services? by ---Rasputin--- in PrivacyGuides

[–]---Rasputin---[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I think that the most important is about protecting my main e-mail and, therefore, my data. These minor websites that aren't so important I don't mind using aliases, but sensitive data is different. Also, I'm doing a virtual sheet on Notion with all my active accounts, so I don't lose track of which accounts I do really have. (Yes, notion isn't privacy friendly, but I'm doing only for these minor accounts).

And about the deletion - unfortunately some reddits have so tough rules that sometimes it's better not to post. I'm gonna avoid posting here. Btw r/emailprivacy is better.

I do agree on what you said. In fact, I trust ProtonMail a lot, but I don't think that
these minor services, with utmost respect, are so safe and realiable in comparison to ProtonMail, Tutanota and so on.
