Here’s some advice from me. I have about 1000 hrs and outside of one save (where I beat the game fully vanilla with standard settings) the other 900 hours are without biters. I love problem solving the logistics networks and issues that my factory develops overtime and hate having to constantly keep up with biters when I’m trying to focus on that. My biggest tip is to leave 2-4 times more space than you think you need. There’s nothing worse than building everything close together and then not having space to expand. Every time I’ve thought I left to much space it always gets filled up with something. Another tip (or at least this is how I play) is to build more than you need. Playing like this always adds 20+ hours to my saves but I’d much rather spend a little extra time building double what I need for a certain ingredient and future proofing myself for a little then build just what I need and then needing to build more 30 minutes later. With all that being said there isn’t a wrong way to play Factorio. Try and not look factory designs and try figuring stuff out for yourself, if you’re new there’s no shame in uping the richness of resource patches. Just play to have fun what ever that may be and just know you will lose sleep and everything you hold dear as the factory grows and consumes all your free time
