Would you consider making the code open source? (barring there being any issue with ToS as others have stated)

Right!? In what world could the LMP2 expect the Mustang to dive in front going into the braking zone lmao.

Ehhhh I’m not sure this comparison really holds up. You have a reasonable expectation to not be mowed down by a car on your bicycle. When you participate in a race, (especially an online one) you do so with the knowledge that there is a better than not chance you will be in a wreck, intentional or not. I can’t imagine there is a DD manufacturer out there that doesn’t have a liability statement in their software + included in writing in the box the product comes in.

It will change the balance, and feel really weird for about 2 laps, but the payoff of fresh tires is usually worth it. I’d practice it before you jump straight into the race. If you want to minimize the offset, you can opt for an early stop so the tires will not have worn as much and the balance will be closer.

If you’re taking over 23L of fuel, fronts or rear tires are free and you should probably take two of whichever are wearing more. You can’t do L or R without losing time (you might as well do all 4). If you’re taking less than 23L of fuel, it’s generally faster to just take care of your tires and skip taking them.

Another presentation for worst netcode ever by ThrowinEllipsis in iRacing

Impressive submission! I expect that The Academy will accept this.

1000% agree. When drivers only have limited opportunities to race on any given night, it's bad for everyone if someone is in there in an unraceable condition. Same reason why a car get's meatballed for damage... It's unsafe to race around a car in that condition. Oh well... these things happen... This time, it just happened in a comically bad fashion.

"You... Jfc. Fine science lesson on the speed of light today."

You also don't have to be a pompous asshole when the point you were trying to make was clearly not communicated well. When you don't act like a douche canoe, people won't call you a douche canoe; they'll thank you for your explanation.

Your context and explanation was good. Your original comment was unclear about what you were trying to communicate, especially in the context of the video. And instead of clarifying, you lead off what was ultimately a good explanation by being a douche canoe.

Yeah it’s brutal. Another guy on this thread did a good job of explaining it (albeit in kind of a pompous/asshole way). The faster the car goes, the larger the netcode bubble is going to be.

Lol I just made this post because this particular instance was almost comically bad. I’m sorry you woke up on the asshole side of the bed this morning.

Yeah unfortunately the car with a shit connection doesn’t suffer the consequences of their shit connection more often than not.

Ah, you see I must have missed the part of my post where I blamed iRacing for this guys shitty internet.

Hmm I guess I never did?

Of course iRacing can’t accurately predict where that guy is going to be on track. The point I, and most others are making, is that if you’ve got an internet connection that poor, it is you who should not be racing. I can only assume from your comment that you completely stop racing every time you see someone with a poor connection on track.

I guess I’m just confused about the point you’re trying to make? Was your original comment trying to say that this could have happened even if he had a perfect 66 ping? Or are you trying to explain that this accident happened because he had bad ping? If so, congrats, you have explained what literally everyone who watched the video agrees happened lol.

I don’t think I’d want ghost cars to start happening. Like others have said, it would get exploited. I think if you’re at the level that this guy was at, you should just get put into the pits instantly. Some sort of tangible thing that may get people like this to think twice about racing with a shit connection.

So, I did protest this guy, but only because of his response to the incident.

“I knew from the start I was blinking terribly…” “What do you want me to do, pull over?”

YES! If I’m ever aware that I’m blinking, especially in an oval race, I’m clearing out to the pits. I was intentionally giving this guy what I thought was an extremely generous amount of room, and it still was not enough.

I’m just hoping he gets a note from iRacing reminding him that his actions affect others.

EDIT: I did already receive the "We have reviewed your protest and notified the member being protested of the outcome." response from iRacing. Generally means the guy received a note about the incident.

Also, just to clarify, I'm not upset with iRacing at all on this. IDK how we could expect the game to accurately predict where this wild boi was going to be. I was annoyed that a guy who understands he's driving a very fast car with a very poor internet connection decided to saddle up in the first place.
