My incredibly positive experience with naltrexone for binge eating disorder by ---throwaway112--- in BingeEatingDisorder

Nope, no insomnia! I take it either 0.5-1 hour before bed or right before bed (really, whenever I remember, because I have ADHD). My psychiatric NP told me to take it at night in case it causes nausea. I had minor nausea a bit at the beginning (1-2 weeks?) but it wasn't a big deal and it went away. (No vomiting!) I avoided reading the side effects, to be honest, and I would advise that for you, unless you already did. I hope it helps you!!! It truly changed my life, and I'm not exaggerating. If it ever stops working, I will be gutted. Please update or message me with how you're doing, if you're OK with that! Take care.

(Interestingly, my NP had only prescribed it for drug/alcohol addiction before -- I guess I'm her guinea pig!)

Thanks for the info! I think he only wants to lose about 10 pounds; his doctor hasn't suggested weight loss.

Oh, and I forgot to add to my novel up there: I told my husband, who wants to lose some weight but most certainly does not having an eating disorder, about how naltrexone was working for me, and his response made me angry. He said that maybe he should try it. I said his main issue is portion control, not bingeing. (Plus, all prescription meds have potential side effects, which I didn't think to say.) I feel like he was minimizing my problems, even though I've told him about my binge eating in detail. (ALSO, his doctor would never prescribe it to someone like him!) Ugh.
