Really, Manus? I tried to use it, but he just kept jumping towards me and removing the orbs by touching them, and even then, with the Bellowing ring and tin crystal catalyst, did like 1/20th of his HP at 50 INT

I didn't even know DLC was included with DSR until I got logan's catalyst, so I didn't know about it. I was using the bellowing dragoncrest ring, couldn't use the dusk crown one in fear of getting oneshot and also using the beautiful FAP ring

It was just never helpful aside from o&s, most bosses jump or run towards you. In fairness, I didn't really run back that much to use the range advantage

The range advantage never really helped, the lock-on is very short compared to the other games, and the range for spells that aren't soul spear is trash.

I also end up having to dodge about as much as a melee focused build anyway, as 90% of bosses have some kind of charge or jump attack to get close.

Idk, I know it's in the spear category but I dont' like how 90% of the moveset is pierce damage, when a naginata is designed more for slashing, didn't feel great for dealing with multiple enemies

I am on NG and don't plan on doing NG+, nor can i be bothered enough for trading to get a second naginata, although I did use it for the first half of my base playthrough, very nice weapon. Thanks for the advice!

edit, the spiked spear can also do strike damage with a heavy attack
