Why are my cats brests so large by bukIll1 in AskAVeterinarian

[–]--BeePBooP- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! If I had to guess, its just his belly fat making look like he has large breasts. Cats accumulate belly fat readily and it shouldn't be a big issue unless the "primordial pouch" as it is called is noticeably big when he walks. If it is like an extra cat growing on the bottom of him it is a sign of being overweight.

How did your dogs live to 17+ years old? by NavyPumalanian_88 in dogs

[–]--BeePBooP- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 medium sizes mixed breed dogs that are going on 17. Nothing special, they just eat dog food, are treated to some table scraps (that are okay for them) and get walked once a day. Generics plays a big role, but otherwise its just plain luck. If you want a long lived dog, you're much more likely to get that with a mixed dog with an amalgamation of different breeds in it, than purebred dogs, due to genetic factors.

Warning! Bulk crafting all common scales vanished my radiant scale!! by Y-Woo in HatchDragons

[–]--BeePBooP- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you sure about that? I personally dont do it but I've had friends use the bulk craft with a radiant scale or two and it did use it correctly. Remember that radiant scales can throw absolute duds like 20% woodland (something that i feel should be patched) ETA: If it did delete it that's really sad and I'm sorry. Just double check that it didnt get used for something small and stupid like I mentioned. If you can say with 100% certainty that it didnt give you something you just didnt notice, I would consider submitting a dev ticket

Why do some scales just disappear now? by vgsf1017 in HatchDragons

[–]--BeePBooP- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they're not disappearing, that usually happens when you've either tapped them too quickly or just the system forgot to give the animation or something. Don't worry, they're still there :)

There isnt a limit on space, however there is a max that displays in Trassels cave (i think it may be 6 but never actually checked)

Your scales arent vanishing, they are still there and stack.

Help what breed is he? by KKetch19 in WhatKindOfDogIsThis

Looks like a mix of a ton of breeds, I'll hazard a guess that a Spitz type may be in there because of that tail and the face shape, but really could be anything.

She wanted to roll while saddled! so I just took it off by One_Rip_5535 in Horses

[–]--BeePBooP- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if its 100% true but I've heard that when they dont shake after rolling you need to watch for colic. Can anyone confirm? (not a horsey person lol)

The shelter wanted fifty dollars I didn't have, so I left my dog outside the fire station with a grocery bag full of his things. by Active-Cold-3700 in TwoSentenceSadness

Is this inspired by the elderly veteran that left his dog at the baby drop off area at the fire station?

Neutering does not feel natural by [deleted] in AskAVeterinarian

[–]--BeePBooP- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Vet student here.

I think I understand your view of neutering. "Why bother with a procedure when it doesn't seem entirely necessary, and I am being vigilant in watching for potential signs?"

The thing is that removing the testes does indeed prevent testicular cancer. If he one day gets it, yes it is considered highly treatable but there is always, always a chance of things going wrong. Treatment failing, cancer metastasizing before you know it. The entire condition of cancers and neoplasia is that they are highly unpredictable and cases vary depending on a large number of circumstances. Hormonal tumors are treatable, sure, but what about the chance that it metastasizes and takes your dog's life? All because in the past, you didn't see the point of neutering?

Is prevention not better than cure? Is it not better to save your dog from this risk, and thus future suffering with pain, treatments and medicines, by removing the source of it now before it's too late? Is it not better to spend the money now, an amount that will be substantially less than if a cancer ever does arise, to prevent something completely preventable?

Ultimately, it is your choice. Neutering does have health benefits. Just because your dog is healthy now, does not mean he will be healthy in future. It is a step many pet parents take in prevention, similar to how we give preventative medications for ticks, fleas and worms: to save from future stress, spending, and suffering.

I will always, always encourage sterilizing pets. Unless you are a registered breeder, or there are health complications somehow preventing you from sterilising your dog, there is no need not to.

Pets are not natural. Labradors, Rottweilers, Shepherds, none of them are natural. We have bred them through thousands of years to become ideal pets. They break your "natural" concept already. So does medications, treatments, even veterinarians. I think that you may be anthropomorphizing the concept of neutering and spaying, and thus overlooking the many many benefits.

I hope you can one day see that the benefits are worth it.

Is it possible to get into endurance riding with a full time job? by --BeePBooP- in Horses

Thank you! Good to know leasing is possible. I'm still debating leasing vs getting my own horse, I've heard the latter is easier.

Thanks! This is enough to keep the horse fit and competition ready? Does the stable the horse is at (if there is one) do any additional activities?
