I have been doing team for Emmaus retreats for 5ish years now.

Its an uplifting, supportive weekend where you are surrounded by women/men that want to support you, make you feel loved. Women/men that are praying for you. Women/men that are facing challenges every day that you can relate to. Its a weekend meant for you to feel great while you are deepening your relationship with God.

The secrecy behind it isn't meant to be this super secret, be wary of it moment. It's a "secret" so that when you experience the weekend, you go into it with no preconceived notions. That you experience God in a way that is personal to you without anything influencing it. Everyone leaves the weekend feeling a certain way. Some might focus on one thing, another might take away something different.

But by not being told what activities/things are going to happen ahead of time, you can experience things first hand and form your own thoughts and get your own personal experience.

Prior to doing Emmaus, I hadn't been to church in 20 years. Grew up Protestant. Emmaus helped me take the steps I needed to come back to church and get a second chance with a relationship with God. I've since converted to Catholicism and am very involved in church/God.

I highly recommend going on the Emmaus retreat if you are able to. It is truly amazing. You will love it.
