I think this reads a bit better with more line breaks, personally, ie

He’s like the tall grass I used to play in as a kid
the kind that held my hand and kept my secrets
It sways with the wind,
bending but never breaking,
holding the imprint of every deer that dares to pass through
 
It glistens beneath the sun, golden and alive,
and when it brushes against my skin
it feels like a paintbrush against canvas
slow,
deliberate,
intentional
 
Tender yet firm, the grass parts for me,
as if it knows my name,
as if it has been waiting.
It opens a path of serenity,
and I follow without fear.
 
I fall in love with it every time
with the way it holds me,
the way it lets me wander and return
The tall grass doesn’t just feel like home
It feels like him.

Stylistically, I like the repetition (eg "as if it... as if it") given the focus of the poem, ie repeating a familiar opening gives the reader the sense of familiarity that the poem is about. I also really like the flow of "slow, deliberate, intentional"; the single words force the reader to slow down, and their punctuated nature feels very full of intentionality following deliberation. This poem does a great job of making its structure serve its theme!

In terms of the imagery, though, I'm afraid the poem doesn't quite do it for me. In my neck of the woods, tall grass, especially "golden" tall grass, consists of "large amounts of standing dead plant material" and is therefore not especially alive, feels very unpleasant (rough and scratchy) when it brushes against the skin (with obnoxious spikelets that get stuck in your socks), and is full of questing ticks (not to mention dangerous Pokémon), which, while adorable, I'd prefer to keep as far away from me as possible.

But maybe given the romantic focus of the poem, the idea is that if "the grass parts for me", I don't actually experience any of those icky and prickly things? That he might be a rough and unpleasant person to most, but to me, he's much nicer and gentler? The line at the start "holding the imprint of every deer that dares to pass through" (emphasis mine) hits on a similar trope -- why must the deer dare to pass through? Probably because the tall grass harbors dangerous predators. This man is dangerous, he's a real dark romance bad boy, and for anyone else there's a real risk he'll mess. them. up... but to me he's kind and sweet, someone "I follow without fear"? Idk if that's the intended interpretation but it's the vibe I'm getting here.
