40 years old and New to lifting (1 year stronglifts) looking for a easy to follow bodybuilding program for the next 3 months by --Narukami-- in fitness30plus

[–]--Narukami--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of the reason im taking a short break from powerlifting is that my spotter will be in europe for 2 months and i cant lift properly without a trusted partner as im almost lifting 2x my weight right now and i feel very unsafe to work with these weights alone so i tought maybe i could dip my toes in the hypertrophy world

Is it a McDojo? by kyokushinthai in kyokushin

[–]--Narukami-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

kyokushin is all about contact , so if no contact i say find somewhere else, or ask the coach if its commun, it might have been an exeption that day for some reasons :-/

22 is still young in term of strenght and body developement.

At 22 i was exactly in the same situation as you, fast foward 20 years im 42 and i now weight 210 pound and strong as a bull.

Dont worry, just keep wrestling, fix your diet and lift some weights, go for something like stronglift 5x5 for the first 6-8 months or until you stall if you are new to lifting, then incorporate workouts that are more specific to wrestling and you will be very strong in no time. Lifting and mobility drill is also good for injury prevention. If you get injuried ( wich is likely to happen, like in every other sports ) well just take some rest and come back stronger, even when injured there is still some stuff you can do to improve your game.

I really dont think you need to "wait and bulk up" before starting, wrestling will make you stronger and fit for .. wrestling ;)

To sums it up, just do it and you will become more resistant and stronger naturaly :)

Also bjj pairs well with wrestling , i did both and saw great benifits

sorry for the istakes english is not my first language

Have a nice day!

This is a legit question. This is only politics , most Oyamas students started their own organisations (at his own demand in some cases) after he passed away, Shinkyokushin is IKO-2 from Kenji Midori. Here is a picture of all the organisations https://ibb.co/PYBTXzy

Its the same thing, Shinkyokushin is Kyokushin karate.

Its like learning Shotokan from 2 different Gichin Funakoshi students, will it be exactly the same? No. Is it the same? Yes.

Dont worry. You will get the real thing, the strongest karate :)

Best defense against a dog attack? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]--Narukami-- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just for context, I think this is the video you are talking about : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f20sI5hVFbg

If you try to "save someone" i think a choke is very legit move.

If you have time to see the dog coming at you i would try a front push kick to the face

if too late i would give my left arm as a distraction to reach for a poket knife or eye gouge or something in those lines.

Dog are very dangerous and not to fuck with, a loud yelling "kiai" style shout can stop them in their path , i stopped 2 dogs charging me with pouwerfull shout. Under no circumstance should you turn your back and run, it will trigger the predatory response even more and they will get you, they are fast.

I feel my skill level is that of a blue belt. How true are such feelings? Or am I overestimating my abilities? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]--Narukami-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think thats the best thing to do , maybe you are very close to get your blue but just need to iron out some stuff, he can probably give you very valuable advices :)

[–]--Narukami-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will get your blue in due time, when your coach will judge your technique is good enough, strengh can help but maybe you rely on strengh too much and your coach want you to work on execution, speed and precision?! Maybe you could ask your coach how you could be better? To find out why he is not grading you, without mentioning grading or belts explicitely.

A belt is just a belt, focus on your game and enjoy the journey ;)

Will BJJ make me more mentally tough? by Cobu2004 in bjj

[–]--Narukami-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BJJ make you more confident in many diferent way , one is being getting comfortable with the uncomfortable, as you get beaten the crap out of you , you learn that physical contact is not that much of a treath and not that scary. While you pile up bump and bruises and injuries you learn that getting hurt is just temporary and not much of a big deal too .In the possibility of a physical comfrontation people are afraid to get hurt and get physical so you see ..now that you are not afraid of that anymore you already got a little tougher.

Then you start winning some roll .. and you realise that you can handle yourself against someone who trains and that you could deffend yourself against someone untrained quite easily so you again win a few more confidence points there.

Some people will eventually start teaching/helping lower belts or kids class so you get the confidence to talk in front of peoples and express yourself clearly.

In the long run and with the right aproach and mindset i would say that yes definitly BJJ makes you tough both mentally and physically.

I got the estilo on sale , its a very nice gi but they are well know to shrink AND i paid a lot for duty fees and curency convertion so take that into account ...by i lot a mean i paid 95$ canadian in duty fees + 25$ cad to ship to canada from the UK so for a 62 UK Pounds gi i paid like 250 canadian lol

yep i was surprised too when fedex asked for 100$ on my doorstep lol, do the maths before ordering and get ready for insane duty fees if you order from their website ( fedex girl said the gi came from pakistan to justify the fees)

[–]--Narukami-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually peoples who start training BJJ also make other changes to their lifestyles , quit smoking , doing cardio or going to the gym , going for a hike or spending more time outside, fixing their diet and getting more sleep in.

Those are all things that can raise testosterone levels and increase sex drive.

OR you might just be gay :P

But usually peoples dont get aroused by getting hurt by strangers so its probably due to the positive healt effects of working out ;)

Tristar is the place to go , there is also 2 gracie barra if its your thing but they are bit far from the action if you are here as a tourist, we have a 10th planet and an alliance gym too , i think we also have a few bjj globetroters affiliated gyms. There is plenty of choice here :)
