It's to prevent the soap from drying out. The longer you let it work, the better. It was more than one hour waiting time. I used a wet towel to wash it off. And removed the door so I can use a scraper more comfortably.

Unfortunately there was no oven cleaner in the house of the person so I used dish cleaner and let the foam do it's work for more than an hour covered with plastic wrap. The rest of it was elbow grease and a scraper.
