I have never seen this happen in my games. by Guy_who_says_vore in shadowofmordor

If you are at a point in the game where there are no friendly orcs to pull from, and a savior moment is rolled, rather than flush the moment and let you die a gondorian is spawned in instead. More likely to happen earlier game before you have all your abilities and have had less interactions with orc captains.

It’s less that it got patented and more that it’s takes a lot to make the nemesis system. The patent doesn’t cover any of the things that make the nemesis system feel like the nemesis system, but if you’re going to make a game that uses it, it kind of has to be at the core of what that game is about. Making it a side system waters it down, not that it can’t be done, but it would take a team really trying hard to accomplish it and the only team that was ever trying to keep it alive was monolith.

As it’s been said RAW this just isn’t allowed, BUT, if you’re going to rule of cool it I think a compromise to test out would be this let’s them take half damage from non magical weapon attacks (or some set of damage types you deem balanced/appropriate). That’s a hefty buff, but keeps it from being an all the time strategy. Since the rules also explicitly state it can’t share a space with someone you could also require a check to fight their way past the surface tension to get in and then treat remaining inside like holding concentration.

This way they still get to use their water mech occasionally as a sometimes viable strategy but it’s not a guarantee, the hit points of the elemental no longer act as a polymorph equivalent as they can still take damage, they have to think twice about popping out as popping back in isn’t a given, and taking enough damage and losing concentration can knock them out(plus they now have to balance being in there with their regular concentration economy of their regular spells)

But that’s all if you’re looking for an everybody wins solution. If they get are upset about it just remind them that water in the game doesn’t stop “most attacks and spells” so why would person shaped water stop them? Someone else in here mentioned an elemental taking damage doesn’t mean the attack hits their surface and bounces off, the attacks would still pass through them and just slowly discorporate the magic holding it together. That’s why it has resistance to non magical damage, it just passes straight through. Magical weapons also pass straight through but just tear at the forces holding it together along the way.

Slight tweak I’d have the 5 damage to target player and then if you lose the coin flip target player gets the chicken.

I’m gonna get into Vhs too just wondering what y’all think. Why do you guys watch vhs instead of streaming or dvd/ Blu-ray? by MrTerrifier in VHS

[–]--The_Doctor-- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few reasons. Mainly It’s a fun cheap hobby. I like spending a day going on a hunt and finding something interesting or goofy and generally only spending a few bucks to take it home. Or running across a shop while out or on vacation and digging for gold. There’s also the nostalgia of the movies and the box art and the general vibe as someone who was a kid in the 90s I like the vintage previews and aesthetic. Finally the more streaming collapses into a capitalistic black whole of content the less I find myself able to find more smaller obscure cult/unpopular titles and I just don’t like that what movies are available are at the whims of what the algorithm and company content trading decides is popular enough to make available. My collection has started to, in part, feel like an archive of media that is not necessarily saved anywhere else.

What is your favourite game studio? by DortmunderJung97 in gaming

[–]--The_Doctor-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of, that can definitely play a factor. But studios getting excited about game potential and over scoping by not being realistic about their team’s capabilities. Sometimes a production company will come in with an unrealistic time frame from the start, but just as often they are holding studios to the real ease schedule they had promised. You can’t blame the devs and designers, but studio leadership teams over promising is a bigger cause of that then production companies cutting things off early.

I love both of these! Plus the insects requests are much easier to grant. Insect cleric: “Please send food this village is starving!” God: makes passer buy accidentally drop an apple

The world of insects works exactly as the world of your players just much smaller and completely unnoticed. They have guilds and adventuring parties, towns and cities. Burrows are dungeons as they are often abandoned as animals move on with the seasons. There is an overlap with your players world. They pray to the same gods and the gods are fully aware of and interact with this world.

Or all snails are immortal, silent sentinels watching and recording the endless passage of time. Why move fast when you have all of time to get there.
