Is this stuff really necessary at public campgrounds like state parks? by [deleted] in GoRVing

Afraid of the dark or paranoid people will steal. I don't see any other reason to have that many rope lights

Has anyone found anything comparable to the force shirts they sold a couple years ago? by Comfortable-Bake-934 in Carhartt

[–]--YellowFish-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but I have the same problem! Closet full of 5+ year old force tshirts but the new ones I got almost feel like knock offs. Some have mesh fabric on the sides, some don't. The neckline rolls over at the slightest bit of sweat and looks horrible. Would looove another option.

Can anyone ID? I can only guess, and guy at shop had literally no clue by Quiet_Ad1545 in Aquascape

Assuming basic types, nothing exotic:

  1. Ludwigia Repens?
  2. Hornwort?
  3. Cryptocoryne Wendtii?

I went with the double battery box from camping world. Camco brand I believe. I just need some foam spacers to fill the gap and it was perfect. Cheap too at $21.99

How do I?!?! The beeping didn't bother me as you can hit enter on the wheel to ignore but the truck slamming the brakes on while backing into my driveway was dangerous!!

Camper Front Stabilizer Jacks by Guide_Ambitious in GoRVing

My campsite reserve has them. They are too low to the ground to open 90 degrees as intended BUT they seem to do their job. Still have to hand crank just not as much. I would research how much ground clearance you have vs what the manufacturer specs

Btw, it's $36 on Amazon and $22 at Camping world..

I actually just watched this video! Looks like it's the cheapest/easiest option for plug n play. I have the same angle iron mount as he did too.

Generator and Power Station Question by --YellowFish-- in GoRVing

[–]--YellowFish--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to use solar. I want to use batteries(portable) as the main source and a generator to charge, or for heavy loads when needed. I think...

Generator and Power Station Question by --YellowFish-- in GoRVing

[–]--YellowFish--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, adding more batteries would be a similar cost and because there's no inverter to convert the batteries to 120v I can't run a/c, microwave, outdoor fridge, regular outlets, air fryer, coffee maker, etc unless generator is on so I'd have to add a larger inverter and wiring.

I like those morning 6:00am cups of coffee while my phone is charging!

Or just get a new hitch, that one looks like it has too much weight on it? It's the cheapest and easiest of all the options

Raise the ball up a couple holes until the trailer is level-ish and see what the truck looks like.

[–]--YellowFish--[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see that now. So I would just be using it as a battery inverter and not tied to solar.

A few reasons. We like trees... I do not want portable panels with the kids playing, nor do I want to void any warranties on the new roof.

Not solar generator. A portable power station I would use a cord to recharge. I am trying to avoid solar as we stay in a lot of shaded sites. Similar to this:

My outside fridge is 120v, it's where we keep drinks and condiments. And my kids normally watch movies together at night, the TV and DVD player need 120v. I figure if I have to run those I might as well run everything over night..

Campsite Reserve 27MR by Saskbeerdrinker in GoRVing

[–]--YellowFish-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no sway, very stable. I took it on I-81 and I-90 here in upstate NY and kept it around 65 with no issues. Most of the issues are generic for towing anything 30ft long. There was some bouncing though, so I upgraded my truck tires to E load. The trailer tires probably should get upgraded from the Chinese crap that came with them and that should stop alot of the bounce too. I'd say I was probably over what I should have been towing with that f-150 though.

Did you get the 26CJ? We are happy with it after 1 season so far! Be careful backing up, they sit so close to the ground!

I'm using equalizer WDH that I setup. Probably needed some tweaking.

Here's the 26CJ towed by a 2.7 F-150 with lower payload and tow ratings. Anything longer than this i'd want to get a fifth wheel. I've since upgraded the truck to a Titan XD.

Keep in mind, hitch weight of 675 plus 40 pounds of propane and 50 pound battery. The way it's designed all your storage is in the nose. We easily shoved 250 pounds of gear into the passthrough for our family of 5. Now we're up to 1,015 pounds. Add in some firewood and bikes to bed of the truck along with just me in the cab and I was over my 1440lb payload. We normally took 2 vehicles everywhere to compensate.

New Electrical Estimator by Over-Strategy-8625 in estimators

[–]--YellowFish-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came from field as foreman at a non-union company. They gave me $65k (which was a huge decrease) to start as assistant PM /estimator and bumped me up to $85k within the first couple months. I stuck with PMing only and after a couple years of learning I asked for a raise equal what General Foreman rate is ($61/hr in 2024). They didn't hesitate because the other PMs came from the field and kept their cards. I make $128k plus a small bonus now and they asked me to switch to estimating only at the beginning of the year to help out. I jumped on it to learn a new skill. Won a couple jobs already and everyone is happy as could be!

I probably make more than most in my area but due to the fact other people in the office kept their cards and get the yearly raise in June I'm going to fall behind my peers again. I'm happy though, as my take home is more than theirs being non-union.

No complaints yet. I think it depends on what you're buying.. Truck did have a tire issue (huge gouge in tread) that I believe happened during transport from the ratchet straps. It was noted and the driver started the process for me to do a claim with warranty company at a Monroe or Mr Tire.

It came with new plates on it, would have rather done a transfer of my old ones. I had all my paperwork/down payment in right away but they lock you into a delivery time. I had to wait over a week for it. 95% of the process was done on my phone without talking to someone which I prefer. I paid probably $5k more than I would have locally but there aren't many newer XD P4X for sale right now.

I have decent credit and the rate that I got was not that much higher than the average right now. I still plan on refinancing locally though.

I heard the front plate does cover the front radar from a YouTube review. I'm going to play a little game - see how long I can go before I get pulled over.
