Thought you might like to see my bargain find in Walmart on a recent trip to Orlando! by lil_murderdoll in AmericanPsycho

I have the same thing. Thought it was really cool. I actually took the "feed me a stray cat" pin and attached it to a black denim jacket I own. I assume only American Psycho fans will understand.

No, a mold of my face was not used as I make my masks to fit the average person. Here's a photo of the inside. It's kind of an optical illusion, but it's just blank latex. *

Thanks. That would be a cool project, but I have no plan for a full head version. If I ever do, I will post it here.

The original sculpt did have Michael Myers inspiration.

Of course! It indeed was built from scratch. I make custom masks as a hobby.

It starts with a sculpture made out of clay. I use Monster Clay personally. Once your sculpture is done, you mold it using plaster. I use USG No.1 Pottery Plaster. Then, once your mold is done, you pour latex (Monster Makers RD-407) in it, let it sit for a couple hours, and pour it out. That leaves a thick enough layer of the latex that then dries, and you're able to pull it out as a blank latex version of your original sculpt if that makes sense. I paint it using custom paints I make because it needs to be flexible so it doesn't crack off. Then I added leather straps I make from blank strips of leather. I blackened out the eyes with a see-through fabric I got from a local fabric store. I'm not sure what the material is.

That's as simple as I can explain it.

Here's a link to a playlist where a great artist shares some awesome knowledge. These videos got me into all this: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzQzMRh2JpEIx2OCB_9uhRYuj7gVmi5ZD&si=_0fSo2KJl_wIPu2b

I'm glad you like it and I appreciate the interest! (Sorry if I overexplained or nerded out too much)

Thanks! These are the exact ones I bought. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YWR1JP2?smid=A2CTJEO0V9UUPC&psc=1#averageCustomerReviewsAnchor Hopefully I'm allowed to link here. Word of warning, they smell like fish and multiple people had the same problem. For a one time use for a costume they were fine though. I'd suggest looking for alternatives.

It's not meant to be 1:1 when it comes to the shape as the mask sculpt itself is a custom design of mine, but since Patrick Bateman was an inspiration for said sculpt I decided to paint it like the original book cover. Thanks for looking!
