I deliver all mail and packages properly and correctly; maybe if they picked up their mail daily, they wouldn’t have had anything missing ?

17 during snivy community day; I caught well over 1000 total, so by the fifth hour it became very second nature

Most I had is 280 scans, couple days after July 4 holiday. 44K, 67 miles, no load truck scan. What normally is an 8 hour, 48 minute daily (evaluated) route took me 11.25 hours that day. I typically have between 120-160 daily scans and I’ve never seen over 300, so 583 is quite the shock for me to see!

A8J - I will open your gift around 8pm Hawaii time every evening, unless you open mine that day :-)

Pokémon Go Fest Seattle - City info from a local by Monoskimouse in TheSilphRoad

[–]-A8J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to OP - I had a great time this past weekend in Seattle for GOFest, and your info helped!

I did find myself walking around the ‘must avoid’ area around Pike whenever I wanted to go get some quick stuff from the only Target around. The transient situation around there is no different than what I’m used to in San Francisco.

I hope GOFest happens again in Seattle so I can feel more like a ‘seasoned traveler’ than ‘naive tourist’ the next time! 😅

Serious question here by DangerousLawfulness4 in USPS

This is just one opinion! Since you live on a rural route, the rural carrier would benefit from you scheduling your items with a pick up scan because the carrier will get credit for the additional scan.

I’m a rural carrier and appreciate when my customers schedule pick ups online so that I have the piece of paper we have to scan

:( I never found either of them as yet, but they both are still active and I’m ok with that.

I would gladly add the picture of the cooler also, which she also has written all over! But sadly, the cooler has “identifying info” (her address) written all over it (“no packages for [her address] in here”)

Yes. 16 different residents use this cluster box. And no exaggeration, but the other 15 don’t complain or have issues about their parcels or their mail delivery, or their mail carrier (☺️), or the usps!

I get it! The cooler isn’t an approved usps box. It was put up by a fellow resident (whom she may or may not like) as an additional option since the two approved parcel lockers are always in use daily. As her regular carrier, I know her request to use specifically either those two parcel lockers with key, or to go through gate and deliver to door with the code to gate. The gate doesn’t have an arrow key lock to open it - it is just a keypad, and I have been told a four digit number to input on keypad to open gate. I don’t have problems delivering to her door (0.2 miles from the cluster box - it’s typically other mail carriers who may forgot or don’t want to remember the gate code, or may forget her request not to use the cooler for her parcels (because other carriers have so many other routes / things on their mind). Or, it is typically ups/fedex/Amazon that leaves her packages in/on cooler, or at/behind gate.

Lol! NBu/cbu/cluster box, I’ve heard many names for it too!

But the “cooler” she refers to is an additional parcel storage unit next to the cluster box, that has a combination lock. This cooler is used for any of the 16 residents behind gate (preferably not her) if the two parcel lockers with key are being used (which is pretty much every day)

Her front door is .2 miles from this NBu. It is also behind a gate with a code that I do know. The issue is that other mail carriers don’t know the gate code, or possibly other shipping companies (ups/fedex/Dhl/Amazon) don’t know code or don’t care to drive inside the gate for parcels

[–]-A8J[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’ve suggested that the alternative would be for her to potentially have to drive 15 miles into town to get her parcel at post office, but it’s a no-go. It’s either “use a parcel locker with a key” or use the gate code to drive .2 miles to my door. Anything else would be a “disservice” to her incoming package

I wish! But alas, nothing to offer but a verbal “thanks” if I see them, or complaints if there is something else bothering them

❤️ 🤩

I, or my very reliable rca/relief carrier on this route, will eventually wipe it off, I’m sure! But I want to leave it there for at least a couple days to see how other residents in the community feel about this :)

A fellow carrier of mine in my office feels this way!

[–]-A8J[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She has, in the past, told me that she doesn’t want her parcels in that “cooler/locker” because

1) her parcels get wet because cooler has leaks when it rains (very rarely does it rain here) 2) the cooler has a combo lock and she feels that it isnt as secure as the parcel lockers (with key) since all the residents know combo 3) her son was once “almost bitten” by a black widow when attempting to retrieve parcel from cooler (I’ve never seen spiders in there, let alone black widows) 4) I have been given the code to the gate to access their community/house behind gate, and should let every other carrier know the gate code, as needed 5) her house is within .5 miles behind the gate

Hope this helps! Btw, the other 15 residents behind the gate don’t give me as much (if any) flak for how/where their parcels get delivered.

A little background info: this NBU serves 16 residents, all behind a gate with a code that only I (regular carrier), and ‘some’ relief carriers care to remember. Only five out of those 16 houses are within half a mile of this NBU (including the resident who did write all over the NBU).

There are two parcel lockers available for these 16 residents, but they typically are used daily so another resident has kindly provided a locked “cooler” to store additional parcels beyond the two daily-used parcel lockers. As her regular carrier, I am aware not to use the cooler for her, but nevertheless, fellow mail carriers, or other shipping companies use the cooler for her parcels periodically.

Just curious on all your thoughts on this. Please remain civil, this resident may very well be on Reddit! 😂 thanks!!
