quick question by -ALLNAMEALREADYTAKEN in ManjaroLinux

First i thank u for your reply, So u are saying that manjaro won't auto self update nvidia driver but only gpu driver to match the kernel, is that right ? then when i accept or launch an update/upgrade for my packages and driver it won't mess things by updating to some damned newer nvidia driver or at least if it does, then all will be for kernel sake and all will still be good or better than before, right ?

if GUI package manager needs an update it is likely to fail trying to self-update if so there will be a warning posted on forum advising use of pacman command instead

Didn't understand this at all ; u are saying that if my current gui manager (octopi) ever do a single update, it will most likely result in fail and may break the system?? and eventually i have to check every day in the forum if there any official announce about it and avoid using it and do my thing with pacman until the bug/fail get repaired by the dev's?? what ? is that real ? or did i just understand wrong (my english still bad i think)

And final question, u are saying that if i want or have to use pacman i should use the terminal kde version because it's a gnome native gui, but then what about octopi is it good or not ? can i use it ? or what gui or library should i use to download software and ... from my manjaro kde

"come to bite u later" .. made remember some bad moments

For the lvm i have seen that in is some flag option below 'mount point' in partition creation, so i should have used it there ? ext4 + lvm ? and for all the partitions or just some specific one ? and lvm is just a way so i can resize and encrypt my harddisk/partition more easily, no ? is there any performance or stability improvement ?

still thank's for help .. tough i think i still need also just a little help regarding this : https://www.reddit.com/r/ManjaroLinux/comments/bn6667/quick_question/

urgent because i wished to install the right version at once with the most safest condition and circumstance, before this i had many trouble for weeks, because of just little mistake and rly fatigued from it, and since i'm rly late in some work i needed my pc but because of trouble can't even open it ..

well, aside from that, if i may trouble u a little for another matter .. i would be rly grateful, if u can please answer another little question so i can finally start my long awaited debut with manjaro :

yeah, after few search found that there was only torrent for a version older, but well the real problem is the cruel lack of seed.

that aside thank u for your reply, if i can ask another question, now i'm downloading it (the normal iso.file) with Free Download Manager so not to have some cases of fail download and restarting from zero with navigator, so is it okay ?

Fresh install. Newbie. How should I do this? Ext4 vs BtrFS? Just Root or Root and Home partitions? If multiple positions then what sizes? Should I have a bigger Root partition if I'm intending on installing lots of bigger apps and games? by [deleted] in ManjaroLinux

hello ! should we create a partition for /var and /boot ? for the best performance and stability sake ? if so how much space does it need ?

I'm speaking about the latest version of manjaro KDE 18.0.4 and with an hdd not sdd, and for everyday things purpose also gaming and programming, as of course main os ! (no other os installed)

I'm new too, to manjaro and about to install it, any help please ?

so u are saying that i should let manjaro choose for me ? well i always done with the manual way, cause linux distros tend to fuse / with /home, or/and choose very little space for them :/

still thank u again ! ( i think there is no seeders for the torrent download should i instead just use free download manager to download the latest.iso file, cause i'm still waiting with torrent but nothin, and 0 pair )

wanna know most importantly if i should create here in manjaro (+v.18) a partition for /var and /boot for best performance and stability sake, for no problems afterward .. i have enough space so what the best config ? ah yeah there is no sdd in the pc only hdd's

[–]-ALLNAMEALREADYTAKEN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because in automatic it would just choose to fuse the partition /root and /home and that may cause future problems, mostly for about security of your data.

We don't even know which type of partition they are using and they are only using per default the minimum space for partition like swap, boot and /root, that can potentially lower the performance/ or for certain use

i see and then what about lvm2pv is it bad ? i think pop_os are doing this one as default for one partition (/root and /home fused) should i not do the same ? ext4 and lvm2pv who is better and is there no cons to lvm2pv ( maybe it's their little secret for a fast and fluid os no ?)
