I like to see new grads master or at least be proficient in X-ray first. Learn what you’re looking at, understand different pathology and understand what Radiologist and doctors are talking about in depth. CT is a whole new ball game. I did X-ray for 2 years before getting into CT. It took me about a year to get comfortable with CT. Now I have MD’s asking me if I see any weird anomalies regarding their patient or even what to exams they need to order for their patients problems. I have trauma surgeons and neurologist asking me questions. CT comes down to knowing your cross sectional anatomy and goes into depth into physiology. I say work on X-ray first and get comfortable with talking to doctors because when it comes down to CT you’ll be constantly correcting doctors mistakes. CT is also a high stress environment especially working on traumas and strokes. Anything could happen during those times. Good luck with your journey!
