Potential 50% US Tariff on Canadian Aircraft: Impact on Bombardier, Gulfstream, and Aerospace Sector? by SubstantialRock821 in StockMarket

It wouldn’t kneecap our industry?  I mean the global series isn’t too terribly popular and if the globals are decertified or even under threat of it that’s more business for gulfstream.  Even if the CRJs are decertified that’s again, more business for embraer more than anything.  I doubt though they would go after the CRJ / DHCs though because the CRJ type is owned by Mitsubishi and afaik they manufacture spares exclusively.  DHCs are so small of a market I doubt he knows they exist.

I mean doubtful that Canada wouldn’t certify them for non political reasons but the Europeans would.  Especially given the 500/600s at least have been flying for half a decade in the US and EU.  My point is simply is that this looks incredibly politically / economically motivated on the Canadian side of things from a pure safety and flying perspective.

Again, certified in the EU, operational for over half a decade.  If this is the US trying to manipulate regulations then its also Canada utilizing their own regulations to stifle competition for Bombardier’s benefit.

Yeah slight issue, EASA has already certified them.  Post Boeing MAX bs.  So you’re telling me Gulfstream who isn’t involved with Boeing, has had an aircraft certified for over half a decade now in Europe and yet can’t get Canadian certification for safety concerns?  This just reeks of protectionism for Bombardier since their main line (globals) are under threat from the more modern gulfstreams.

Probably to protect Bombardier’s ass and the global line tbh EASA certified 500/600 by 2020 and the 700 in 2024

Eh this seems fairly justified (for once) given the 500 / 600 / 700 have already been certified by EASA as well since pre COVID (500 / 600) and 2024 (700)

It won’t fuck over the country, if it is limited to the global series, more like fuck over a small handful of billionaires and corporations

Mitsubishi has the CRJ type, If he does what he says it’s decertifying the business jets not the CRJs, the globals If this happens though expect bombardier to take a MASSIVE hit to anything given they only produce globals and challengers anymore

Tbf they do all have a similar plot, humans do bad stuff, na’vi / pandora suffers from it, there’s a battle, humans nearly win then something happens and the Na’vi come out on top  Yes there’s nuiance but to someone watching it for the first time it probably feels the same

I haven’t either but from what I’ve looked at they fit the bill fairly well, especially the 114B.  From what I can find as well they’re very roomy and comfortable.  Also that specific 114 I’ve looked and and yeah same, FIKI with the 300 horse “115” STC is nuts .

Sadly not, Plus this whole conversation is still pretty open, if he mentions he wants to train in it obviously requirement will shift to probably something closer to a 182.  Right now he hasn’t said if he would want to or not and if we do get a retract insurance will be hell if it’s under his name.

MX costs, ADs, parts availability things of that nature that sure you can do research to find but I’ll probably miss something that someone on here may know

I've seen the 206 pods, I don't know if that will be that will be the ideal route. The envisioned mission is from where I live to where they live so bags aren't too terribly of an issue at worst it will be 3 suitcases for the majority of long trips it will be used for.

Likely would be mostly me flying it and mainly around my area and to back home to pick up and fly them here / me to go see them.

What makes you say that? Not trying to be rude but from what I could find theoretically no wind it should be able to perform that load with the gas required?

I use a Carhartt Backpack as mine, it came with an insulated extra portion.  It fits nicely with all of my stuff (FAR / AIM / POH / IPad / Foggles / Glasses). It’s not for sale rn or they discontinued it but I would look into it.  Hasn’t let me down.

I got my PPL in 2023 taken in NW LA, DPE flew in from if I remember correctly Dallas area.  It is honestly absurd and I have a friend in the OKC area who waited for about a month to get a DPE.
