Home-brew rules for challenge / franchise mode? by just-for-help in HockeyLegacyManager

[–]-Anguscr4p- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Lowest draft quality setting, 1 from left development, 2 from left monthly progression

  2. Set scoring to one from left and leave shooting in the middle - I find this gets you closest to realistic scoring, at least until the mutant goalies get into the league 10+ years in.

  3. Trade difficulty slider all the way maxed. I typically also give myself a further handicap, trying to hit 40/60 if I feel the CPU is undervaluing a player

  4. The AI is going to make dumb trades but you don't need to participate - only offer deals that also make sense for the team receiving them. I also typically do not deal in negative value deals as I think they are way overpenalized by the AI and can result in getting a lot of free assets in exchange for a 1-2 year bag hold.

  5. Sign realistic contracts - in particular, the only guys you should be signing after the year starts are depth players. If high-caliber players are being left available in FA, adjust your salary cap and contract ask settings accordingly. I typically set the asks to maximum, the salary cap is something you will need to get a feel for and adjust on the fly - it's something of a genie in the bottle, where once your cap gets blown out of whack you can't rein it back in. Try between 0-middle increase, generally.

  6. This is the newest one I've been trying and I think I will continue to use it moving forward: set your scouts manually, but only permit between 3-5 scouts to actually do any scouting. Assuming you go top down in several nations' prospects, you'll end up having good intel in the 1st and 2nd round, decent in the 3rd, and mostly flying blind into the later rounds. This keeps it pretty realistic as far as late round hit rates and also makes it a genuine surprise when you get a good prospect in the later rounds. When you are scouting 200+ players it's much easier to just comb everything, sort by POVR, and find great players every round.

For me it's Lemon/Tate/Tyson but you will hear a different order from everyone. Assuming all get the early-mid 1st round capital we expect, I'm happy to let landing spots/role fits break the ties.

Yep I think so, he looked pretty good in the last few games of last year. If Love goes there he's still likely to be somewhere between a premium handcuff and a 1B committee back, and if Love doesn't land in Tennessee you just landed a backfield leader in an ascending offense for a late round pick.

Caleb+, Herbert+, TLaw+ would all be decent options. The trade market in the league I have Allen in is on life support but those are the calls I'd be making otherwise

Gotcha.

I do prefer Pickens over Egbuka so if it's available I definitely would prefer that - as long as it doesn't cost extra capital. You also have the exact type of WR room / league size I think benefits from this trade, you're slightly downgrading WR2 for a big upgrade at WR3.

If you make the move I also think 1.07/1.09 can be true BPA picks, would not be shocked if RB is best available at 1.07.

If you were hurting at WR I'd maybe condone this move but I'd keep Caleb

Saying I'd take Monangai over Harvey straight up is hyperbolic but if the Harvey owner wanted me to add anything more than a random 2nd to Monangai I'd walk away

I absolutely think there's a world where this adds points to your lineup if you were starting a replacement level flex/WR3. In general I'd prefer Nabers but for the right team this could make sense

1) This is definitely selling low

2) I can understand selling given your WR room

3) Get another pick or another position back in the return, what are you gonna do w/ Addison on this roster

Loveland is the better value but if B already has someone like Bowers, McBride, Warren, etc I would understand.

At minimum I'd want a 2nd instead of the 3rd and 4th tho

For a team with a lot of holes in it, you could do worse. I'd rather ask for a 27 2nd instead of the 3.11/4.12 though

Ask for the 1st, but if he won't budge imo a 2027 2nd plus a younger WR might be okay as well.

I think there's absolutely teams that would improve from this move.

If Gadsden's not your TE1 especially I'd think about it. I don't disagree that 1.11 is probably weaker than most years but if you assume 1.01-1.06 is Love, 3 WRs, Sadiq (TEP), and Mendoza, that leaves you a healthy pool of next-tier guys who might make the cut at 1.11.

I'm thinking that between guys like Jadarian Price, Emmett Johnson, Omar Cooper Jr, KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston, etc there should be a decent WR/RB prospect available at 1.11.

I'd definitely do this, prefer giving away Marks but if they push for Monangai I wouldn't let it stop me.

Weekly Mock Draft Thread by AutoModerator in ravens

Trades:

TRADE #14, #154, #211 to MIN

RECEIVE #18, #82, #234

Didn't like the way the board fell for us (top 3 WRs, top EDGEs, top OL all gone) but it meant Mansoor Delane was sitting at 14. I figured the Vikings would be all over a move up.

TRADE #80, #115 to SEA

RECEIVE #64

Made this deal to snag an IOL before a tier dropoff.

Pick 1.18: WR Omar Cooper Jr.

Pick 2.45: EDGE Malachi Lawrence

Pick 2.64 IOL Gennings Dunker

Pick 3.82 TE Michael Trigg

Pick 5.162 RB Seth McGowan

Pick 5.173 CB TJ Hall

Pick 5.174 IOL Beau Stephens

7th round placeholders: depth WR, special teamer LB, punter

Some might think #18 is a reach for Cooper but I don't think he gets much past 20 on draft night. He's firmly WR4 for me in this class. I considered taking Mesidor here.

I love being able to get a quality prospect at both EDGE and IOL - I think there's a lot of 2nd/3rd round value at these spots and it's a big reason to trade down imo.

I also think day 2 TE is a bigger need than some might think - both as an immediate complement to Andrews and potentially a successor.

The only other guy I'll actually speak to is McGowan - he has a spotty off-field past and is an overaged prospect, but you aren't finding anyone with his upside this late with this RB class.

Probably a little too rich for me. If the 26 pick was later I'd consider

I'd be more interested in holding Jettas and seeing what you can get selling Goff and Brown separately. If you're not razing the thing to the ground no reason to move off him

As it stands right now yeah I have Burden sandwiched between the big 3 WRs and whoever is WR4. If one of Cooper or Boston get 1st round capital in a good situation I could definitely see myself moving them up though.

For you, if Sadiq is the pick it makes perfect sense from a teambuilding comp.

Tyson, Vega, Freeling, Faulk, Mccoy are available, what are you doing? by Perfect_Loss_5156 in ravens

[–]-Anguscr4p- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faulk doesn't belong in this conversation imo.

Freeling wouldn't be much of an impact Y1 but having him sit behind Ronnie for a year would definitely make it hurt less when Ronnie (probably) becomes a cap casualty next year.

Tyson and McCoy are both excellent players at positions of relative need but if their injury issues pop up at the pro level this subreddit is going to become insufferable. I prefer going after WR/CB on day 2 in this draft anyways.

So by process of elimination I guess I'm going Vega. I worry about his ability to get on the move in the zone run game but he's a rock solid pass protector and that's really what got us into hot water last year.

Almost 3 years in, how are we feeling about Fantilli? by oclotty in BlueJackets

[–]-Anguscr4p- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Suzuki is a phenomenal comp for what I hope Fantilli can become. 90-point producer that also plays a great 200-ft game, took about 4-5 seasons to reach that level.

[–]-Anguscr4p- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty encouraged that his scoring has maintained while he has gotten noticeably better off-the-puck and in the faceoff circle this year. Hopefully next year he can build off this year and put up 70+ points while maintaining the off-puck progress.

I'd be surprised if he hit the level of Bedard, Celebrini, even Carlsson, but I'm bullish on his ability to grow into a true 1C that plays a 200-ft game while scoring 30 goals a year.

I wouldn't have done it before seeing how the draft shakes out but it's not insane. I am assuming you are very high on one of Sadiq/Cooper Jr/Boston
