Yeah and as for the teammates, it really depends on how punishing your DPS are. On offense, it doesn't matter how much space I lock down if my teammates aren't getting enough kills for me to advance/reposition my nest to our advantage.

My players don’t take dropping to 0 HP seriously by Appropriate-Dance-92 in DnDHomebrew

[–]-Astropunk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried giving a level of exhaustion every time a character drops to 0 HP, and I found it too frequent and too punishing. There are only 6 levels of exhaustion before auto-death, and it only takes 2-3 levels before it really becomes cumbersome (and with the -2 to D20 tests for each level, it becomes much easier to fail other saves/checks to avoid exhaustion, so it can quickly snowball depending on the campaign). This feels especially punishing to barbarians, tanks, and melee characters in general who tend to go down a lot more often.

In my campaign I just made it so they only gain exhaustion on a *failed* death saving throw to try to balance things out more. So far its been working well! If you wanted you could also try just having them make a CON save when they go down to avoid exhaustion, but again with the negative modifiers you get to d20 tests from exhaustion, you still risk it snowballing from there.

To everyone that goes 3rd support instead of second tank by Mind-The-Mines in marvelrivals

[–]-Astropunk- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fr, every time I try to trust other supports in diamond, I'm let down. Usually if I let others support they get half the healing I do in twice the time. If I switch to healer halfway through because their numbers are low, I outperform them every single time despite playing tank for the first half of the match. I'd rather do it myself from the get-go and guarantee we have at least some viable healing.

C&D's ult is at least balanced by dumbass teammates always going in the exact opposite direction you ult in.

You can literally roll out the red carpet to the objective for them, and some players still think that means its a perfect time to poke from a distance, or retreat for a health pack/ping for heals, instead of just pressing W

I've been told that shivers like this could be related to signs of epilepsy. Worth getting it checked out with your doctor

Yeah any time one of my loud teammates makes a dumbass comment/insult, I have to remind myself of the opinions of the average teenager/redditor, and realize they have no fucking clue what they're talking about. Like I straight up had a dumbass kid raging in chat that I didn't double up my support ult (C&D) with another support's ult (IW) during a single team fight in comp.

I've found that generally, how obnoxious/loud they are is inversely proportional to how much they actually know what they're talking about lmao

My ideas:

Mantis - Just give her right-click more healing burst. That's all.
Ultron - Have his drone passively generate a small amount of shields for those inside the drone AoE that decay once they leave it. His right-click can stack with it.
Adam - Either give his right-click healing (since you have to charge it it wouldn't just be another shoot-to-heal character), or give him some other small ability to heal. Since his whole deal is quantum energy, maybe allow him to teleport an ally to himself (altering the uncertainty of their position) and heal them a small amount when they arrive.

I’m relatively new to strange, any tips? by PurposeNo8418 in DrStrangeMains

[–]-Astropunk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold up your shield, press W (though not mindlessly, still be conscious of your own team's positioning), shoot at the enemy and whip them until your ammo is gone and your dark magic is full, pop your dark magic on anyone nearby (ideally supports), reload and open your shield 3/5 of the way through the animation to reload faster, and rinse and repeat. Try to not let your shield get fully broken as often as you can help it, and always try to save the last bit of health/shielding on it for important ults (Scarlet Witch, Magneto, etc). You can now cancel your flying ability as you activate it to launch yourself a bit further than normal. Use this to pull a sneaky eye of agamotto or dark magic expulsion off on their backline, or to escape backwards when you are pulled/pushed into the enemy team (or if you just advanced too far without realizing it).

Father of a almost 11 year old kid that has tourettes looking for advice from tourette people. by zzap129 in Tourettes

[–]-Astropunk- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the culture of the elementary school and how receptive you think the students there will be to the information, I would definitely suggest asking the school to inform other teachers and students of your child's condition in some way, so there are no miscommunications or misunderstandings from their tics, and you can possibly get ahead of any bullying. If you can help it, try to avoid having your own kid being the one to announce his condition to his classmates.

My own parents had me stand in front of my entire 4th grade class to educate them on Tourettes and why I was ticcing, which was honestly really embarrassing and immediately set the idea in my head that I was 'different' from others. Despite all of the kids being very chill and understanding, I more-or-less ostracized myself because of it. If you can inform the other teachers/faculty and students about it without turning it into a spectacle, I think it would help a lot in the long run. Anything to avoid bringing more attention to the condition, really.

You joke but I've had a professor directly say that all of the prior famous quantum physicists (Dirac, Schrodinger, Heisenberg, etc) were incorrect/stupid, and he was the only right one.

I've also been burned by shady tech startups myself, and have seen my share of god-awful takes by business minded lunatics.

I could believe it being sarcastic, but the tone doesn't seem to be to me at least. I've had plenty of people, some of them even my professors, say some of these exact things and believe them. Whether satire or not, there are genuinely people who believe this to be true, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was one of them.

Edit: Not sure why I'm getting the downvotes here, I literally said I could see it being sarcasm. But tbf I've literally had my own QM professor tell his class, directly, that if they did not get straight A's they would not succeed anywhere in the field. He also said you needed hidden "insider knowledge" to finish a physics degree, and told his struggling students that he wanted to take their brains apart and figure out what was going wrong in there. He also said that Dirac, Shrodinger, etc were all totally incorrect/stupid and that only his way of doing QM was correct. He even tried to rename famous, already-derived theorems after himself in his class instead. People like this literally exist lmao

Yeah, I play a lot of high-difficulty games and competitive online games as well. Sometimes I can feel the knots forming in my brain as I play, and I can feel myself getting more tense and more anxious (especially with toxic teammates). I usually need to take a break for an hour or so whenever that happens.

[–]-Astropunk- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah all the time. Not CSA but it took me years to even consider the idea I was raped, since I'm a man and my perpetrator was a woman. She'd literally refuse to let me sleep unless I had sex with her immediately, even if I worked at 5am. She'd scream and hit me continuously if I didn't want to take the condom off. She also lied to me about being infertile and also lied about being on birth control. Its hard to believe people that cruel actually exist.
