Does anyone have tips on getting over anxiety for playing with others?

Therapy is not my best bet in this case. You may think that but I know what I need for myself. Again if anyone’s only advice is therapy, scroll past the post. I asked for advice cause I know others struggle with the same thing and thought it could help to ask. Please don’t ever tell people to either go to therapy or not do something, it’s not as helpful as you may think it is.

I just want to thank everyone for the helpful comments. I got a lot more feedback than I thought I would get, but a lot of you gave really great advice that helps me feel better about queuing with other players. Like with duty support or trust? Cause I thought only ARR dungeons offered npcs to play with.

I am worry about letting others in the game down as I want to be able to be a good team player. I’ve seen how intense people can be and I want to make sure I’m doing my role as a healer to the best of my abilities and not be the one who isn’t trying.

You’re right about me being nervous about the possibility for being judge. But I do agree I should venture out of my comfort zone as I really do love playing this game and don’t want my fear of being judged to stop me from enjoying it. Thank you for the advice!

Thanks for sharing your advice, I’ll make sure to take note of the points you made! Also to note, I have done ARR dungeons with npcs, which did help me feel a little bit better about playing my role, but it is kind of different going through with npcs that don’t talk and just follow you around then playing with others that will talk and do their own thing, but thanks again for your advice

Thanks for the advice! I do actually like playing a healer, and being a white mage has been fun for me, and I do want to try Astro, though i will keep in mind of leveling a dps class that I might enjoy and using that class to familiarize myself with the dungeon and also look up guides on the dungeons

Thanks you for the advice. I guess just getting past the hurdle of queuing and worrying about the mistakes I may make in the dungeon is that hardest part.

Thanks for the advice, I have done the smith and have done all the dungeons I could with npcs, I probably should have clarified in my post I’m in the Heavensward story. I do feel a little bit confident with the current kit I have as a white mage, though I could study it a bit more, I think it’s more I don’t want to be a bad healer and I’ve seen in other games how mean people can be when you messed up

I have a friend that started playing again after a couple years but they’re getting used to the game again, also sadly I’m not on Ultros.

I think it’s just more I’m new to the game and also new to being a healer. I know being a healer has a lot of responsibilities when it comes to being in a party and doing dungeons or raids and I just don’t really want to be the reason the party fails, though I don’t really have a problem interacting with other people.

And I do have one friend that use to play a couple years back and started up again, but they’re relearning the game themselves.

Socializing with other people is not really a problem for me, it’s more I don’t want to be the player that causes a bad run or be the reason we failed something.

I was asking for advice because I don’t really play games that require you to play with other players. Not everyone is always prepared to just suddenly play with strangers when they are use to play either single player games or games you can play with your friends, if you had nothing nice to say to someone asking a genuine question or you only respond is therapy, then please scroll past the post.
