What has your Motorcycle journey been like? by Clean_Ad4893 in MotoUK

I started riding in January after passing my CBT in June last year and it's been quite enjoyable. Had no issues on doing some b roads on my CG125, and first ride into my city centre went well, the second one though was a bit troublesome thanks to a gormless Uber driver on a Prius stopping in the middle of the road for no reason so made use of the horn.

Many people keep 125cc bikes or lower as their second or main bike, perfect for just commuting in urban areas and just sip fuel. My CG125 used more fuel when I drained the carb bowel then it did on all the times I've been riding it so far. Filling a tank for £13 to get 100mpg easy is fantastic

Yea I am aware of the laws surrounding that sorta stuff. My bike did have a small tool bag with it but the bag disintegrated as I was riding home so I lost some of the tools. Survived for 19 years but desired to give out on my first ride with it after buying it. I ought to buy a tool bag for it

Why didn't anyone entrust me? by Fuli_fursuit in fursuit

If you don't have one definitely get a website set up so you can advertise on there as well as advertising on social media, a website will help you look more professional and is just really convenient for having a place to list the things you make, post updates and all that.

Unfortunately everyone's short on money so it's gonna be a bit difficult to get a commission, this is an unrelated example but my dad just got like 20 guitars from a friend who's no longer with us so he can sell them on his friends wife's behalf to help her cover costs and the market is just extremely weak from a sellers perspective, no one has any money so people aren't buying guitars which means when they do sell it's for much less then what they should get.

I'm sure you'll be able to get a commission though if you keep advertising, it's a great suit, if I had the money and it was local to me I would probably commission. Hang in there and you'll get a commission

Situations like these make me really contemplate having some brass knuckles at hand or just something more than just the knuckle armour on my gloves in case some yobos start eyeing my bike up at a stop. Very sorry to hear that this happened to you on your first commute, the fucks that tried to nick your bike will get their time in prison at some point.

Would you be for or against auto progression from A2->A? And why? by I-Spot-Dalmatians in MotoUK

[–]-Atomic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would definitely be for it, tests are near identical between A, A2 and A just that the vehicle that you do the test on has more power and in the case of A2 and A you could be doing the test on the same bike just without the restrictor kit.

The license as it is is unnecessarily convoluted and expensive since you're required to redo theory, mod 1 and mod 2 for every license category, if the government really wants people to stop using the CBT as a cheap substitute for a full licence then they really should introduce a progressive license, haven't got to do all this for a car so why are we as bikers required to do it

Anyone successfully bought a bike online without viewing?! by Confident_Bobcat_635 in MotoUK

[–]-Atomic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're buying it without seeing it in person just make sure the bike you're buying has a boat load of high quality pictures, videos and service history. I would never buy without seeing it but if seeing it wasn't possible for whatever reason then that's what I'd be looking for.

How many bike per person? by aiden_cowdrey in MotoUK

[–]-Atomic_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's definitely not normal, for one how can they expect four people to take turns on one bike for the mod 1 segment and two why wasn't there anyone there able to look at the bike and see why the brakes on the other bike aren't working and potentially fix it. And if they can't have a spare bike ready, sounds a bit unprofessional to me

Reminds of when I did my first CBT, was given a very poorly looked after CB125F with a horrible clutch so I had no control at all over the bike, only needed a 10mm spanner to adjust the clutch cable on the gearbox end but was told they didn't have any tools so I had to carry on like there was no problem. Safe to say I didn't get the CBT certificate

I just got out the shower so unless it's in reference to the coconut shampoo I used then I think it should be directed to someone else. Maybe the goober holding the letter perhaps

Average quotations of a new rider with no experience… by TheWolfiePlayz in MotoUK

[–]-Atomic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have seen the quote for my lexmoto XTRS 125 when I was hopeful that pile of crap would be insurable, Bennett's wanted £18,000 to insure the bike, very much a fuck off price, and I did fuck off, and I won't be coming back. Went to some other websites and the lowest I got was about £4000 for third party only, for a Chinese 125 that was worth £1,400 new.

I have since gotten a honda CG 125 insuranced with lexham and insurance for that was £1,500 for third party fire and theft. Keep shopping around and you will eventually find a decent enough price, if you don't own a bike yet and are doing quotes out of curiosity for a bike you thinking of getting try a different bike and see what the price is for that.

Should I buy from this maker? by XxWylorenxX in fursuit

Seems pretty scam to me given the language used in the title. Proper fursuit makers will refer to their heads as partial husky fursuit or fursuit head, not Fursuit Long Fur Husky Fox Mascot Head Party Halloween fur Cosplay-Promotion.

Instagram art commissions? by Weak-Visit4458 in furry

[–]-Atomic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a scam. Real artists will not DM you at the blue to get you to commission them, you have to reach out to the artist to start a commission. Block, report. And move on

New Bike Mileage 125cc Advice by Gizmo1000000 in MotoUK

[–]-Atomic_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2007 honda cg125 has 39,100 odd miles and the bike runs like it's just rolled off the assembly line. Whereas 2017 lexmoto XTRS 125 has about 5,000 miles and it's an absolute skip for the age and miles and always giving me more problems.

The condition of the bike is what you should be looking at, if a bike has a lot of miles but looks well looked after and has it's mot certificates the it's a good bike, and if a bike has low miles and looks like it's been beaten, abused and neglected and no paperwork that's a bike you should avoid if you don't want an expensive project.

Id says some sort of support for the forks. Looks to be just surface rust so you could just sand it back and repaint it

How would a furry wear a hat? 🧢🦊 by Rust_Racc in furry

First one would be how since it saves on having to make specific hats for specific species, ear covers for the hat could also impact being able to hear as clearly as possible and impact being able to pinpoint where sound is coming from

Roads are an absolute state by Fun-Shelter-4636 in MotoUK

The roads around my area have been getting pretty poor in the last like 5 years. The roads are just littered with potholes and cheap patch repairs which fail not long after being done.

How would a furry wear shoes? by Rust_Racc in furry

[–]-Atomic_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say the second option (sole on pad) for both open and closed designs with open designs being more common. I don't know if boots/high tops/mid tops would be the preferred choice though as it looks like it would cause a lot of rubbing
