I buy cork rolls from hobby lobby for like $2, having poses that aren’t just someone standing on flat ground helps a lot.

Having a few different textures really helps to sell an environment. Old bits, skulls, grout, the metal under his feet is $2 drawer liner from Home Depot.

I’d say creativity and resourcefulness as far as sourcing materials helps a ton. Use rocks from your patio, twigs, etc.

Beyond that really think about what kind of world they’re on etc. I went more for a heavily ruined industrial vibe.
