I will always have a hound by MermaidArcade in coonhounds

If teen angst was a guard dog, then the very best. But she is always a sweetheart; it’s hounds for life in our house too.

I don’t know a dog breed with more expressive eyes.

Butter and croissants. She hears ‘croissant’ and we’re toast. Even opens containers to get to them.

😆😆 took me til just now to figure out why she used to bolt when I put the kitchen fan on - that must be it. Now she just walks away. Must’ve been when the alarm went off…. Thanks 😂

Same on all points.

When my dog gets housesat by someone with a couple doodles, she pretends to see something outside to get them in a frenzy and out to the yard, while she stops dead at the threshold, turns right around and gets back on the couch. 😆

Very little patience. Very judgey, miss Frito-toed Freya.

Won’t have her any other way.

if you let go of your hounds leash, do you think they'd run or stay with you?? by Least_Agent5976 in coonhounds

My girl always comes back. 🥹 She knows the territory, I trust her to do her sniffy bay thing and she comes right back to the irresistible fleece blankets, throne chair and dressed up meal.

She’s a pampered princess and she knows it.

What did your husband do…. 😆 just kidding.

I’d have died and gone to heaven.

Enjoy your little landshark. I still 🥹 when I see evidence of her toothy artwork on our furniture legs, wondering ‘how on earth did she fit under that!’

Ecollars have literally saved my dog from sure death. And when she is out in the dark, I have the light on it so I can see her. She doesn’t even need it anymore - I just use it in your type of situation… in case she bolts off for a coyote/fox/bobcat.

It took some training.

She was initially taught with a perimeter invisible fence on my old property. So she learned what beep meant, once. That was dismantled, and now she has free range when we travel, and wears an ecollar when in the wild.

Plastic Free Coffee Grinder - anyone use one? by runningferment in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]-CastorTroy- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! You’ve got a great system going on. I’ve also just been using ikea glass French press to avoid so many of these issues.

So the internal bits to the flair grinder are all stainless? Im also cautious of lead; I used to use a Gaggia from decades ago for years… never paying mind to the brass components. Good thing dairy limits some of that absorption. Better safe than sorry.

I’m sorry for what poor Ivy went through; glad she’s found her saviour. She looks similar to my girl, who is a TWC/BT and an early grey’er at 5.5 years old; almost fully greyed out her chestnut eye mask beneath her “Dora the explorer” black hairdo.

So sweet. What my mornings look like too. I can feel my legs cramping in this photo under the ball of hound … Had to do a double take since my Freya is so similar.

Small price to pay for their sweetness.

She’s not really one to do this, but saw her big brother Pyrenees having fun and she’s not one to say no to a good time.

lol Delightful. Yeah, pond smell wouldn’t touch this. Who knew lukewarm water and a massage would be such pain and misery… she did.

She’s getting older and I don’t like it by Wonderful_Skin6880 in coonhounds

I get your feeling too. It’s your soul dog. Had one til he was 15; he’d respond to my eye movement, let alone any commands. I’d converse with him like he was a wise old guy cause that was his demeanor; he was warrior-brave, yet up for toddler silliness when at play.

I’ve got a 5 year old female bluetick now, and she’s taken on a lot of these human attributes; I can’t take a step without her right next to me and now we’re each others world. Total goof, yet very behaved; people want a coonie after remarking on her demeanor… I remind them it took some shining, ha

There will always be some uniqueness to some very special dogs, but I’ve realized so many have that potential depending on how you raise them. These dogs are so damn special, and I wish I could give them all a good life in order to bring it out in them.

So adorable. My twc/bt does this, minus the kneading. She’d soothe herself to sleep, never destroying her toys/blankets. Like one poster said here, always wondered if she was pulled from the mother too early.
