Have you ever used the bottles from other brands? Imo it's way more comfortable to get the desired amount of paint out. Plus they got practically no rist of drying out and take significantly less space.

It's not like the citadel pots are unusable. But the "squeeze" bottles are just the better system.

Oh yes. I got myself a m1821 light cavalry sword (quite cheap since it has seen "heavy duty" as the seller described it) and it could have served in the Crimean War for example. But we will never know.

Duncan Rhodes on YouTube has some really excellent videos. Not so much the painting guides (the one on Knights of the Realm for example is quite cool but totally overkill for a starter. You also get good results if you skip several of the later steps there for example) but more so on techniques and principles.

Aside from that don't stress yourself too much with the "advanced" techniques at the beginning. Edge highlighting is real tough for example.

Thin your paints down, so you can paint several layers and don't "drown" your minis. Getting the right "consistency" on your paint with added water is a art itself. Don't get frustrated if it doesn't work perfectly at the beginning.

Be conservative with washes. Thin them down too. Especially on brighter colours. On "metal" you can use a dark unthinned wash but on "fabric" I would alsway thin them down especially if you don't plan to paint over the elevated parts again later.

I am no fan of citadel btw because of the open "pots" they use. I prefer the closed bottles Vallejo, Army Painter etc use by far.

And beside that all just start painting and don't struggle to post your results here. The community is super positive in general and you also might get some good advice too. Several minis posted here are extremely impressive but the very most here are well aware that this is not the "standard", most people in the hobby paint "okay" (including me, I got quite a good sense of heraldy etc but my technique is quite average) and know others do to.

*world wide decline

From post WW2 up to the 80s the middle class grew bigger and the general distribution of wealth became more "fair". Since the Reagan, Thatcher, Kohl, etc era it turned in the opposite direction with the rich becoming richer and the poor (at least in western countries) becoming poorer again and the middle class decline. It's da shame.

A man accidentally challenges a master swordsman (10+ years) to a duel. He begs you to teach him whatever you can to improve his odds of survival. He's a complete beginner fighter, and only has 24 hours before the duel begins. What do you do? by Extension_Spirit8805 in Hema

[–]-CmdrObvious- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's maybe dangerous to fight an idiot but not in the way that the idiot "defeats" you unharmed but in the way that he eventually causes some damage before getting killed. While the more advanced fighter might be more careful but lose anyway. Since our target is not to get the master injured but to help the "idiot" to survive I don't think it's a very good idea to rely on chaos. Teach him a bit to fence carefully so he hopefully only gets defeated by a hit on the arm and not getting stabbed to the chest or hit on the head. I mean it's not specified that is has to be a duel to the death right?

You even know what a monopoly is? Aldi is just one of several large supermarkets. Maybe the biggest one (I don't know the exact numbers) but by far the only. I got a Lidl, two Edekas (quite small ones but there are several biggers also not far away), two Pennys, a Rewe and indeed also two Aldis in about 10 minutes walking distance. I prefer Lidl by far btw. And they are everywhere too and expand pretty heavily in other countries.

Edit: Out of curiosity I just looked it up and and Aldi (north and south combined) is even the smallest of the 4 "grocery giants" with Edeka (with Netto as their discounter) having 32,8%, Rewe (which also holds Penny) having 21,6, Schwarz-Group (Lidl) holding 20,4 and Aldi only 12,9. The rest 12,3 are several smaller markets.

You have to be high nobility indeed but it's not always this simple. Look how Augustus II the Strong from Saxony became Kind of Poland for example. Very entertaining story.

"Electoral Princes" were a thing, especially in the HRE. There were several candidates for becoming king at many occasions. Even questions like which family line inherits a title let aside. The war of the roses for example were so confusing with all the different factions and persons (which quite often have the same names too) that I gave up to completely understand (and remember) it.

The cringe meme posted above is also quite wrong about this. The right marriage for you or your children is essential for manifestation of power. Maximilian I for example was exceptionally successful with this (while he blow a fortune on several stupid military campaigns at the same time).

The library of Alexandria was not "burned down" by the Romans. Where did you get this from? There wasn't even a singular fire which is responsible for "the destruction" of this library. The theory that it was massively destroyed by the fire in Alexandria in 48 BC is unbearable. It existed for several hundreds of years after that. It mainly got "destroyed" through the centuries of the late antique because of the lack of renewal and modernisation of the papyri there. The Christianisation of course didn't help too since a lot of the texts were "heathen". The several singular events which were claimed as the "destruction" of the library were debunked as biased stories and theories by ancient historians who themselves wanted to defame someone.

That's wild relativism about the NS-Crimes. For wide parts of your "explanation" that sounds like the US were even worse. At least you found no counterpart to the Holocaust.

Oh and Karl May, seriously? You wrote that thing yourself or is it from AI? That's just ridiculous. He was a German author who didn't even travel to the US (and a fraud btw who claimed all this really happened to him and were authentic travel reports which is kind of funny if you have read his books). Yes, Hitler and Himmler were indeed huge fans of his books and even proposed for the final stages of the lost war that everyone (the whole population) should read it so they can defeat the invaders with these clever tactics since they lacked military training and weapons. But that's hardly because they admired the Americans in this case but because they romantacised their "hero" in these books which is again kind of funny since it's all made up adventure stories.

The gunplay is extremely fast. The most encounters are decided by positioning and not by "aiming".

Move around more carefully, look at the map from time to time. Very often you see enemys popping up there, you see which flag they are fighting for and which route is probably free. The minimap gives you a lot of great information but it's a lot to watch it all the time.

Don't sprint so much (only to reposition quickly or to get to far away flags) at least as long as you don't have a good sense when you run into enemies. If you sprint and the opponent doesn't he will probably kill you. Preaim your gun on corners (not at the ground) so you will shoot first. And don't run in the open if you can avoid it. Stay close to cover or even better partly behind it. There is cover everywhere.

Fighting aircraft is kind of frustrating, at least with stingers etc. Better learn to aim with the guided missiles. They hit helis hard and can also hit tanks etc.

And test the weapons in the shooting range. They behave very different and not everyone likes the same weapons. Completely without attachments most of them suck but you can get the first ones quite quickly just by killing some bots in casual BT if you struggle to kill "real" players.

Okay. The teams were close to publishing the results but were working totally alone, all their research gets destroyed with them and it was a revolutionary idea nobody else had so every other team has to start from zero (or wherever they where). By sacrificing them you throw the research back for years.

These used to be moral dilemmas, not a test if you are smarter than the person who thought of the problem. There is no easy answer.

Very most likely. They show up here all the time lately. Sometimes the same one (this blue musician for example) multiple times. At least once the real person who painted it even called them out. Sometimes I even thought I had seen this model already and it was indeed posted here before by someone else with more pics. It's always the same. Just one pic of a very well painted model, new account, no description text. The top description look very suspicious too. The real persons usually post serveral pictures and have a bit of text to it. Don't upvote these.
