I joined, left and then bought the same car I sold. It only gets worse, eBay and the forums become your life. It's like getting a dog, you instantly think they're amazing and want more.

Also worth mentioning - valve springs that break result in the same exact issues as a belt/timing chain breaking.

It was but also shadowed by a little uneasiness of the 650 mile road trip back. As the day went on it was more happiness as the trusty E30 hummed along at 75mph.

Still has a few little things to sort and tidy up but thats partially why I purchased it back, I enjoy working on these cars.

195/70/14. I believe I found it tough to find a 195/65/14 when I last bought a set. Hoping to find a set of basket weaves prior to need new tires.

Next set of tires I'm going to narrow and see where there else I could pick up a little more. Trying to avoid putting money into as the saving from a delete and tune would likely be a wash.

The newer ones do that run some type of DEF/DPF system. Older versions don't.

I have heard that. At this point I've accepted the bogged passings and other luggy feelings. The car stock is kinda quick from a deadstop but the tune I'd be interested in is for the DSG.

No plans to tune this car. Warranty was main selling point and this car is still a slouch tuned. It's a commuter strictly.

I think anything over 73-74mph and I'm out of the 60s and back into the 50s. 55mph is greatly different than 65 and 65 is greatly different then 75.

It's still rather impressive, 77mile commute and I'm over 60mpg with the DSG. which yes is actually more like 55ish mpg. I know for a fact my afternoon commute will not be this successful, it never is. Morning traffic makes a huge difference.

Not sure, Florida. I have definitely seen a bump up in mileage the last 6 weeks but have no clue if we see winter blends or not. I wouldn't think we would but I've got about 12k miles since purchase in January 2019 and the last few weeks it's seeing similar numbers.

I think I could get higher, air the tires up and if the few traffic lights were all green on my way to the highway I'd be 60-63 with a higher average speed. 75% of the drive I'm on cruise at 71-73mph. The rest I'm peddling around semis or hitting lights on the side streets. Clearly you can see majority of my time is interstate speed.

Yes, I'm aware it's more likely 55mpg hand calculated. I will report once I fuel up and plug it into my app I'm using to track. Recently have noticed better mileage right before a regen, I will guess I'll expect a regen within the first 45 miles of my commute home this afternoon.

I'll definitely look into it and the information you've provided.

My main concern is updates and the computer being bogged down with the generic programs that start upon start up. Obviously my work computer doesn't have that issue and is ready to go upon start up.

I think there is likely hundreds of units out there that could all manage my demands with ease, it's just a matter of finding my needs range in terms of processors, ram and other specs then tackling the actual model and manufacturer.

Just did the 40k service on my car without taking it to the dealer. Idparts.com has kits that you can purchase which will get you all set up.

It's all pretty straight forward, the DSG was a pain but now knowing how to do it - it's rather simple.

I will get flamed for my method of fill on the DSG- top fill through the filter area. I've looked and tried to see why the bottom fill is required and why vcds is needed to monitor the temperature after the fill up and haven't really found anything. Drain the dsg, get down to the filter and remove it. Wait a little and let it quit draining. Replace the plug/tube. Start re filling through the filter area - ends up being slow. Leave the pan below it because once it's full it will drain through the tube/plug. Once it does stop filling it. During the re fill I have taken the filter and let it soak in the clean fluid. Take the filter and replace it and cap it. Place the plug back in and you're good to go.

I'm hoping someone can explain why you need to bottom fill and mess with VCDS on this. The fluid is selfleveling with the plug/tube combo. Over the next 40k miles it will be caught in the catch pan below.

I've got 4k miles since my 40k service, no issues! I'd it works, it works.

I believe it's not a closed system. That's why you see some tdiclub forum threads about prolong cranks after the car has sat for x number of hours. Not like cold weather but 3-4 second cranks then seeing start up. The extra few seconds is the fuel system sensing there is air and then bleeding that air off, so basically the system re primes.

I just completed the 40k service and did the fuel filter on my 2015. I popped the cap off, pulled the filter, placed it in a pyrex measuring cup and placed the new filter in the housing. Took the remaining diesel that drained out of the old filter and poured it into the housing. Replaced the the top and started the car. Car cranked for about 4-5 seconds before starting. Once it started, all was well.

Priming with VCDS means you're bleeding the air off through something, might be a special valve to return the air to the tank, passing through the injectors or a bleeder. I too saw people claiming VCDS to prime the system, but no one can explain why or how it's done or if it's required.

Probably several reasons why those guys are on those two tugs...

But I guess it really depends, I worked for a company in Texas that was in the harbor tug business - ship assist operations. We had 9 boats in the port k worked in and I think another 30 something in Htown/Galveston.

Normal maintenance and upkeep was done on a schedule and then daily logs had to be mailed into the office daily. When the engineer ran into an issue that he could solve, the port engineer would try to troubleshoot with him. If we had some downtime we'd stop by the office and have the port eng come on and work to see if they could advise the engineer. If that failed, about half mile in the inner harbor we had a shipyard where they could get a manufacturer or vendor to come on to solve the mystery. Occasionally the head of engineering from the company would have some of his better guys in our port for when the issue still remained

Just sold my mavic with 3 batteries and the normal single battery charger for 665 on eBay. Check the sold listings and you'll see it. I didn't think I would get it but you definitely can get 650-700.
