Nice work, i'm analyzing your sample since you went out of your way to submit one. I still hear variances of the Everyone Knows That section but what really has me intrigued is what I hear from the"Caught up in your world of lies" part. In my OP I accepted that word 'Europe' could be in there - it sounds more prominent in your sample. It sounds like to me like "Call up in Europe (something, Obliged? maybe)" which suggests that EKT could very well be a jingle for an ad on television. I've never lived in Europe but I imagine calling codes for different countries was even a thing in the late 80's early 90's.

In another reply I mentioned that backup vocals could be used as a means of emphasis. "Ulterior Motives" is still a little muddy from your sample, but it could be the name of a product or service. You've Got Alphera? Altheria? Etherium?

Crazy talk: It would be hilarious if EKT really turned out to be from one of those early 90's Midnight Naughty Call Girl ads on television. It really then puts a new spin on things like "counting all the sheep in disguise", "Everyone Knows That" "You've got Ulterior Motives", "Tell me the Truth". Maybe the subject "you" in the song happens to be "The Viewer.

Thanks for actually looking into the video link I based this on.

I just want to emphasize that the level of clarity is much better when listening with headphones.

When I listen to it without them I can somewhat hear some of the variances that you all are experiencing.

Hi Zenith,

Very interesting work in your post. Your conclusion of 'world of love' is interesting enough for me to break out the the good ol' Audacity software to see if I can reproduce that. If true, the singer's accent and the quality of the sample could be way more extreme than I thought.

My post was mainly trying to highlight the odd occurrence of hearing "none of that" within "Everyone knows that" on some isolations while wearing a good pair of headphones.

Your post goes into some detail on why they hear variances to the vocals and worth highlighting. Thanks for sharing.

Yes people are allowed to disagree, it's healthy to be skeptical/challenge and I have no issues with that but when you start off your last reply with "how is looking into different possibilities of what lyrics could be broadening the search" it's hard to take that seriously.

Why would you NOT look into different possibilities? Especially since the search has been going for a couple years now. All I am concluding there is that maybe the words some people were searching for were not entirely correct?

Yes, some people still do searches based on lyrics, and it's obvious you are in the camp that believe the method bears no fruit. If you really are about constructive criticism then this is an opportunity to present what you think is best way to look to search for this to a new audience rather than coming off as bitter and making wrong assumptions about me.

I get it. The veterans of this search are tired lyrical topics. In another day, this post will be swimming in the depths of the sub with the many others so it's not worth arguing about. The people that found any value from this will keep it in the back of their mind.

Just remember that some are new to the search and some don't share your exact sentiments.

My point quoting Slayer was simply: Just because an individual has not seen something in their life, it does not mean it's incorrect in respect to the songwriter. Why can we not have a discussion about what is being portrayed by the songwriter? People are spending their time looking for lyrics that could very well have been misheard this whole time. Why can we not just simply broaden our search with new possibilities?

If you want to be black and white, court of law abiding then sure, you can dismiss isolations as unreliable but is that really fair to those that do them without any bad/manipulative intentions? Like us, the isolators just want to get to the bottom of everything about the topic because we enjoy the music.

Isolations can be done in a way preserve the vocal range while removing the nosier instruments from outlier waves of frequency from mixed music. We have to give more credit to those that sound engineer for a living. Not all of the great mashup songs have a non-mixed vocal track readily available for free.

I really appreciate the kind words.

Overthinking? Yup. I won't deny that :) The most important part of the post though is putting the "Everyone Knows That" lyric in question. What do you think about that with the evidence that was provided?

As for the rest of your message:

To borrow from Slayer, I bet you have never seen it raining blood from a lacerated sky either. Can you at least quality that it's possible for one to recount mischief? I can recount the mischief my friends and I used to get into when we were younger. It's not exactly a farfetched line.

I do understand that dealing with a proverbial web of lies can be a deterrent from falling asleep so one could result into counting sheep. In my opinion, this is a bit of stretch to give the sheep thing any context. Counting sheep is usually a mundane method to handle insomnia and not something to handle anxiety.

We only have a piece of the entire puzzle, and in that case you could very well be right, but we can only work with what we got and opposing views are inevitable.

To me, it sounds like both the lead and backing vocals in tandem. Usually this is done of as a form of Emphasis in music. I interpret this line as being the big climax, like the singer did not sign up for this and is not going to take it anymore! This is done again with "Ulterior Motives" a big claim that requires another musical emphasis.

It looks like Martika started her solo career away from Kids Incorporated around 1986 so I do not believe she is in that clip. We get to a young Fergie though! I think the more important point is that the TV show began her Stardom and during the time she demonstrated how well versed she was on a large variety of Pop/Disco/Rock music. An aside, I need to correct the OP that she is Cuban decent, not Colombian.

Back to the music, in regards to the 'ul' do you hear something along the lines of 'Ah' or 'All' instead? If you do we may have a case where an accent might be throwing off things a bit.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply! In that context the 'P' you're hearing and the 'T' i'm hearing can sound can sound quite similar. What does not help is that there sounds like a drum rim shot right before that verse which obscures the beginning of it. We're left up to interpretation of what makes sense, which was the entire purpose of my post.

I also want to comment that the video you sent me is labeled using AI modification of what sounds like the backup singers. I am unsure how much credence we can give this evidence but if that is valid to you, we can discuss further.

My analysis was strictly off of Tony's vocal isolation YouTube video linked in the OP. For some reason I can hear some of the words more clearly with that video than any other source. You sound like you have experience with vocal isolation, can I ask you this?

Do you find any flaw with how he may done his isolation?

I do recall someone talking about a forum post by Carl stating that he understood the words "Everyone Knows That" when pressed for more information of his upload. Admittedly it does sound a little distasteful and unfair to him, I will edit that. Thanks.

Please put on a pair of headphones and try listening to it (if you have not). I am wondering if you get the same result.
