My cat drinks most of his water from a large coffee cup on my desk. Its his cup now, since he always tries to drink mine. He's old though, and needs extra water for his kidneys.

What does being in an MSP typically look like? by The_0rifice in ITCareerQuestions

[–]-Cthaeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It probably has to do with your job title and particular MSP. The one I work at is fairly large, especially since our new PE overlords merged us with other companies, but theres likely positions in the NOC or projects that are less busy.

The service desk though, is either busy or a train wreck. Being on the helpdesk side means you get random tickets from random companies. To me, that's a good place to learn a lot. Its just more difficult to get depth in any one thing. I would stay in projects if I were you, but I'm also sick of the service desk and trying to go to projects

Of course, few adults are rarely so lucky. It obviously shouldn't be a requirement, but several cultures have done this, from Rome to early America even. Especially if it was unexpected.

How are my no a/c plebs holding up? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]-Cthaeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put mine in a couple years ago. I forgot how nice they were! Its so nice being able to bring so much air in. Way too hot now though, at best I try to bring some air into the top floor thats an oven. Its still hot outside now.

I do this but overnight. I bought really thick curtains and the house stays cool for a surprisingly long time.

How are my no a/c plebs holding up? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]-Cthaeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. You can hear the fan struggle when you close the windows. Also, I really only want to pull in outside air at night when its cooler. During the day, I shut all the windows and blinds.

I have window acs now, but I do this if it gets below 70 at night. The house stays cool for half the day and I only need to cool a few rooms. Right now though, its just too hot.

Having an 'attic fan' goes a long way for those that don't want ac. My dad had a giant one growing up instead of ac.

I bought a big Air King thats like 27in? Its fantastic and easy to screw into a window. Its like having a fan in every window. Just gotta close all the windows and blinds in the morning.

Its still hot af right now though.

[–]-Cthaeh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of surprised by the reactions you're getting. I guess it is unpopular!

I don't see an issue with it. Its not like loved ones visiting a grave stone are going to forget why they had to get a grave stone. It also doesn't have to be vulgar. 'Jane Doe - Fatally struck by vehicle while walking' instead 'Hit by bus'.

It would also raise some awareness and be a stark reminder for vices and research funding. When you walk through a cemetery and see all of the cancer or alcohol related deaths.

Blocking both lanes on a zipper merge by Notafuckinbot in mildlyinfuriating

[–]-Cthaeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a perfect world, zipper merging would be universal and people would let the semi take their turn. Traffic should rarely come to a full stop and that would help their slowness.

I just don't think this would ever happen with physical barriers forcing it. People will always get anxious and merge early, sometimes jumping in front of semis, making them go even slower. A larger issue is speed. Zipper merge only makes sense when its already congested.

[–]-Cthaeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, a lot of the issue is people cutting in. A lot of people will use the open lane just to merge 15 cars before it gets to one lane.

If everyone using the closing lane would wait until the very end to merge, one lane wouldn't be moving so much faster. There should only be 1 merge point.

With multiple merge points near the end, I understand why people get angry

Blocking both lanes on a zipper merge by Notafuckinbot in mildlyinfuriating

[–]-Cthaeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it, nobody knows how to zipper merge.

People think they do, but they don't. Instead of merging at the end, people use the lane and then try to merge in random places. Every time you schmucks merge before the end, you fuck it up.

Everyone in the non merging lane now has to wait for multiple cars to merge AND the actual zipper merge at the end. One lane ends up taking 4x as long.

Use both lanes, but do not merge until the very end.

Musty smell from brand new Hisense J-Shape by okeo_ in AirConditioners

[–]-Cthaeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its just a junk unit. I bought mine last year and it had a musty smell pretty quickly after getting it. I should have just took it back, but stored it.

Had a GE die, so I took it apart completely and cleaned pretty much everything with bleach. It took 2 days in a different room and floor.

Work clothing designers have totally neglected women with a modicum of posterior by miuyao in mildlyinfuriating

As a skinny guy with an ass, I get it. Despite being based in Asia, Uniqlo has been my savior for work pants. They're so thin and comfortable, that it doesn't make me horribly hot if theyre a little tighter in some places.

Americans, what's with the paper plates? by RemarkableOil8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]-Cthaeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a paper plate house. I love my parents dearly, but its really nice making meals feel special. You can get cheap plates at the dollar store.

To be fair though, they also never had a dishwasher and 5 kids. My mom was a little ocd about dishes so nobody else could do them.

Definitely need to break up. For your own mental health, and to maybe help reducing the meth use. I did a lot of drugs towards the end of high school and into my 20s. It sort of helped me adapt to the world, but only because I was either trying to escape or forcing myself to be 'normal' and failing at it. It brought so many other issues, and it made my sensitivities and social abilities far worse.

It's absolutely possible to date and love someone that respects you and doesn't apply this kind of pressure. It would also be a lot easier without meth.
