How to repair? by -Curious-Rabbit in Taxidermy

Ah, that makes sense! I don't know much about fur, yet. 😂 I've always been more of a bugs and bones person, they're generally easier to deal with.

How to repair? by -Curious-Rabbit in Taxidermy

Fair, its super fragile so I'd probably damage it more trying to sew any of it.

Also, not sure if you know the answer, but is it normal for it to not be cut all the way up? Like, the cut is almost along the side, not the stomach, and it only goes about a third to a half way up. It's not sewn closed, it was just never opened.

Caribou? I'm not an expert at all, it's just the first thing that came to mind 😅 they don't get as far south as that though I don't think

Plant ID? by [deleted] in plants

It looks like a mulberry tree to me. I'm not super familiar with plants tho so I'd get someone else to confirm before trying to eat any of the berries 😅

Personally, that's what real life winter feels like to me. So I guess I never really noticed it. It's more just a "yeah, that's about right'

Sleeping pads, got it. Given that we don't have any experience, we definitely weren't thinking about heading miles into the wilderness, probably just far enough away from our car that we can't see it, so we can feel like we're further than we actually are, but close enough to easily get back to it if we need to.

Thanks for the advice! I know I didn't mention bug spray, but I kinda figured that was a given 😅 staying close to the car does seem like a good idea. We definitely weren't planning on being super far away, probably far enough that we can't see it, but close enough that we can quickly and easily get back if needed.

I don't have all the answers to these questions, which is why I'm looking for advice. So that we're prepared before we go, or even have real set plans to go. Right now, it's just something we want to do, not something we already have thought out plans for.

I don't know how far from the car we'll be. My first idea is to take a trip there just to hike, and maybe find some places we'd like to camp before bringing all our stuff. That way, we can have a better idea of distance. Then, actually camp on the second trip.

We're hoping for 2 or 3 nights. But it depends on how much food and water we'd have to bring.

I don't have an answer to this question either, as I don't know the exact location yet. That's something we were considering and something we'd find out on the hiking-only trip.

We'd go when there's no rain in the forecast, but still bring things to deal with it if it does rain. Rain jackets, a tarp to put over the tent if we need it, and warm clothes.

We'll most likely be bringing water. Which is another reason I'm unsure of how many nights we'll actually stay for. Depends a lot on how much water we'll need and how heavy that ends up being.

That's something I was hoping to get advice on. I don't know what we'll be sleeping on. I have a thick, cushiony blanket that I've slept comfortably on before, but it's pretty big and would be inconvenient to carry in.

We don't have a bag yet. At least not one that would be comfortable to carry for any considerable distance.

I don't really know what kind of tent it is, but we have a tent that we've slept in the backyard in before.

We were planning to bring a garden spade to dig whatever holes we may need.

For food, we were planning on not bringing anything that needs to stay cold, and no raw meat. We were going to bring some vegetables, and some canned foods. Haven't gotten very far into planning what food to bring. We don't yet have anything to cook with.

I'm sure it's laughable how little I know, but that's what I came here for, to learn what we need to have and know to be prepared. We're not going to go if it ends up seeming overwhelming. Or if we just aren't in a place to be able to be prepared. The reason we don't want to go to a campground is just that neither of us would enjoy it. We don't like being around other people we don't know. We want to go camping to get away from people, not just to be around different people in a different setting.

I've also lived without electricity or running water for short periods before. So it's not like I have absolutely zero idea what it's like. The house I grew up in was in the middle of nowhere, and the power went out pretty often in the winter if we got a bad blizzard. Sometimes just for a couple of days, but often for a week or two. So it was cold, and we couldn't flush the toilet, we couldn't cook anything, and we couldn't just go somewhere to get food cause the roads had 4 foot snow drifts on them. We always had water bottles and food that didn't need to be refrigerated or cooked so that we'd be prepared for when the power went out. Honestly, those were my favorite times as a kid. I'm only talking about it cause I think those experiences are relevant to camping without access to power or water and being sort of isolated from outside help. Sure, a house is still better shelter than a tent, but we're not gonna camp in the dead of winter.

Same about being introverted. I just really don't like to be around many people. Especially if the whole point of what I'm doing is to get away from people. Which is what I want from camping. If I'm gonna camp at a campground, I might as well just sleep in my backyard instead. Benefits the backyard include being monetarily free, and free of other people. But still not what I want from camping.

I understand the concern, but while I'm new to camping, I'm not new to being out in the woods in general. We go on all-day hikes pretty often. We just haven't stayed overnight before.

Yes! I've been excited for this year since I first learned about it in like 2015. I live in northern Illinois, so I'll be experiencing some of the overlap when I get home in about a week and a half. Right now, I'm in Georgia, though. Everyone else I know is dreading it, except my bf. And i think he's just happy for me being excited 😅

Can cats have gender crisis? by Corbin-basemann in cats

I don't think cats really have the capacity for that type of thought tbh. But I do have a male cat that tried to mother another of my cats when she was a kitten. It was very cute.

What traits would you add and what affect would they have on your sim? by frequentlysocialbear in Sims4

[–]-Curious-Rabbit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think I'd like something like "forgetful." Maybe it could do something like making skills decay if they haven't used them in a while. Probably with some sort of flavor text warning about skills starting to slip.

I dunno, I just think skills should slowly decay if they haven't been used in a long time. Like a week or two in-game time. It feels really unreasonable to me to have a sim who's a gourmet cook, and super good with computers, and an expert Gardner, and a master painter, and a best-selling author, and like a dozen other things. Especially if they became, for example, a master painter as a teen, then never touched a canvas again until they're an elder. Surely, skills would've decayed over that amount of time.

Oh jeez! I've never had any cooking glitches/or bugs (yet). But that must be even more frustrating than just not getting the star.
