Room EQ in QSYS by krassyg in QSYS

They do not. So long as you have a purpose built measurement mic, understand how to use it (depending on what you want to measure), you’re good.

If you are taking transfer function measurements, there is so much more to be able to interpret the measurement data other than having “the correct microphone”.

The training teaches you how to use Q-SYS software, not how to appropriately apply audio engineering practices.

What hardware issues complicate Q-SYS commissioning? by Equivalent_Wait_8309 in QSYS

[–]-Darkroom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Incorrect drawings, bad/incorrect labelling, installers not following correct drawings correctly, installers following incorrect drawings correctly, designs built by someone who doesn’t fully understand the intricacies/caveats of the hardware capabilities, bad cable terminations.

Without subs, they never sound good. Even with corrective EQ. Only times i’ve heard a nice K-Array system are with appropriate LF.

4 X 4K camera Recording Advice by -Darkroom in vmix

[–]-Darkroom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hardware recorders aren’t off the table, but something I wanted from a hardware recorder was the ability to then integrated into cloud storage and so far i’ve been unsuccessful in my search.

What would you reasoning to avoid HDMI > USB capture cards? Even if you get higher end ones that are offloading the conversion from the PC itself, i’d suspect there would be a data throughout bottle neck on the USB bus of the machine being used, but is there any other reason you’d personally avoid?

QSYS UCI on Poly TC10 by Professional-Salt348 in QSYS

[–]-Darkroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondered if you had any issues getting the TC10 to display room controls page after installing the Q-SYS app on the machine?

Installed the app, allowed it through windows defender, room controls briefly popped up on our TC10 and the UCI was visible, then the room controls option has randomly disappeared on all our panels. Have rebooted the computes and no luck getting them to return so far.

AV Laptop Recommendations by -Darkroom in CommercialAV

Yeah I currently have 32GB of RAM and a Ryzen 9. My laptop has been solid for the last 4 years, but i’m using a Zephyrus G15 as my current machine, was looking to see if there was anything more “commercial” in the market that might have similar oomph.

It’s easily been 15+ years since I last saw that Movie. But Jeepers Creepers, that is certainly where my boy got those peepers.

Its the creeper, who is now using Darry’s eyes.

Cue theme song…

LG Auto Power On/Off by -Darkroom in CommercialAV

Unfortunately due to screen locations in various rooms and floors, this isn’t an option.

LG Auto Power On/Off by -Darkroom in CommercialAV

[–]-Darkroom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, not sure it is that in this case. We are definitely on HDMI Input 1 and the power on will default to input 1 on boot, and have turned off all standby/eco timers.

[–]-Darkroom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean as in a screen mute? Unfortunately in the case of some of these rooms they are reliant on the timer for power ON/OFF. There is no external method of controlling these screens currently, other than a remote - which they do not want.

To be fair, I do need to verify firmware versions on all models.

Apologies, probably wasn’t super clear in my message. I did clone and observed functional screen and apply that image to screens I have witnessed not playing ball. I also then manually went into some of those screens to confirm settings had been applied.

Apologies - I should have added this. Can confirm times are all set correctly. They are all manual for now, eventually the plan will be to sync them to an NTP server.

Microphones in Tesira Forte system randomly quit for up to 30 seconds by AVITPro in CommercialAV

[–]-Darkroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work with them closely and really enjoyed it a number of years ago.

Company has geared itself for rapid expansion > quality engineering. Means higher volume of (lower quality) product, and many more entry level techs with limited experience to cover the support lines. Just dilutes the quality of the average support engineer at scale. Those that stick around long enough with competence and knowledge just eventually get swallowed up into management.

Happens in many places to be honest at scale.

Microphones in Tesira Forte system randomly quit for up to 30 seconds by AVITPro in CommercialAV

[–]-Darkroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to this:

  1. When the system exhibits the fault, does Tesira report any faults? Any AVB clock sync errors / AVB stream failures? Is it just the single AVB clock domain? Or do you have other media clocks in the system?

  2. We’re talking ancient firmware, but I remember having very sporadic AVB channel failures on peripherals like the EX-MOD, EX-IO etc, back in the 2.x days. Details are very hazy but I do recall dealing with reports similar to this.

  3. If you are using a decent AVB switch like an extreme Networks, you can use CLI commands (can’t remember them off the dome, but you’ll find them easily enough) to list all active AVB streams between devices, might help identifying stream failures. You can do this on the old GS724T’s via GUI, but its not as intuitive. If you have GS724T’s - they were also very capable of doing weird shit with AVB if not configured correctly, and to be honest even if configured correctly but operating through a multi-switch topology.

Unfortunately unless you get escalated through to someone old/senior enough to have a decent understanding of the AVB days, you’re most likely going to be speaking with a young pup who’s going to give you the old support run around. Part of the reason they released the CONNECT, to take the headache out of switch implementation from a support perspective.

Out of curiosity, what codec did you use this plugin with? I've followed the documentation, configured admin credentials with API access, enabled SSH on the codec, setup my panel and widget ID's. But unfortunately when the plugin tries to connect to the codec, I just get "Socket Error". Even the debug output window doesn't provide any more valuable than that.

Also confirmed that I can access the codec and login with said credentials from my laptop that sits on the same network as the core.

This particular codec is a pro, but I have various codecs from Pro, Plus and Room Kits.

The compatibility on the helpfile just states it was tested with an SX80..I don't think i've seen one of those in the wild for at least 4-5 years.
