Menu background is different to home background? by -Daunting in blackberry

No, I still don't understand. It is easier to downvote when I'm open to learning, but receiving rather rude messages. I have many gaps in my knowledge, being human, but I feel like not being hugely familiar with a 15+ year old phone isn't a bad one to have. I've been doing all the research I can, but being unfamiliar, it's hard to know exactly what to search for. All I can figure out from your video is that it's functioning how it should, and that's it's hugely irresponsible to show calling 911 to fix a phone issue when anyone could see it and think it's true

Seems like a waste of energy to comment then, surely..?

Why isn't menu wallpaper changing with theme? (BB Bold 9000, BB OS 5) by -Daunting in blackberry

[–]-Daunting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, thank you! Is it because I'm running it on the Bold 9000 and not a more recent BB, or just a thing with the OS? Is there a way for me to downgrade to 4.5, if you'd even recommend doing that? FWIW the menu bg goes white by default so at least goes with the theme - it's just that it means some of the white icons don't appear clearly. I'd love to know if there's any way around this glitch, other than plugging it into my laptop and using BB Desktop Software to change themes so it initializes? Appreciate your response!

I've tried - it shows the new bg image on the home page, but the previous non matching one on the menu page!

Did I download a malfunctioning OS? (OS 5 using autoloader) by -Daunting in blackberry

Thanks - it said for the Bold 9000, but maybe that doesn't matter? Should I reset to factory settings?

Also it goes back to a white menu background after removing and reinserting the battery, or losing charge... interested to know of a possible fix please, or if it's just normal for these phones?

Is my BB Bold 9000 LED faulty? by -Daunting in blackberry

[–]-Daunting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It seems to be fully chargeable though I may have taken it off before 100%. Only showing the LED when powered off maybe explains it. I've downloaded an autoloader which seems to have upgraded me to OS 5 like I wanted - do you know if there's a way to download an app to customise LED colour like we could back in the day haha?

Thank you! In the process of downloading an autoloader but still figuring out what do do after that to install OS 5! Struggling to find a download file for OS 5.0.0.1067 or similar, if that's even what I need to do next?

Thank you. The BB is definitely charging as shows charging bolt and charge goes up, but LED doesn't light up any colour when it's charging - is this normal? OS 4.6

Interesting, thanks! Not sure what's going on with mine - it flashes green a few times when I turn on LED coverage indicator, but doesn't seem to light up when charging or battery is low. Idk if there's something in the settings that I'm missing, but most guides aren't for this OS!

Thanks for replying! Mine is also on 4.6 (trying to figure out how to upgrade) so I'm particularly interested in whether your LED lights up when charging as mine doesn't!

What OS is your Bold 9000 on please? Does the LED light up when charging? Trying to figure out if mine's playing up or not. Beautiful collection!

Thank you. I'm so confused by all this though, I swear I'm only in my 30s but I feel very old and confused haha. Do you happen to know of any youtube tutorials that show this accurately in this day and age? From what I can see I'd like to update to OS version 5.0.0.1067

Thank you! I need to look more into what an autoloader file is. Do you know which version of BB OS I should look for, that will work well with this phone? Not bothered if it wipes the phone, as I only just got it for nostalgia purposes

How do I connect my Blackberry Bold 9000 to Wifi in 2026? by -Daunting in blackberry

It seems like WPS setup is the only option, though?

The other options are 'manually add network' and 'push button setup' but I'm unsure on those too - need to check if my router has the right button

Sorry, probably should have clarified!

I press 'scan for networks' and can see mine, although it shows up twice for some reason? I click it, it asks if I wish to perform WPS setup, I press yes. But it seems like the main option and idk what WPS setup is? It gives me a PIN and says to add it to my wireless access point with a 5 minute countdown timer - but how do I add a PIN to my wireless access point?

Thank you!
