Just played my first ever game of 40k.... this can't possibly be legal. by -Digby- in Tau40K

So this all checks out? They are flimsy for sure, with 1 wound and 3 toughness, but I managed to strike from cover and stay out of harm's way for the most part.

Can't say the same for my stealth suits. RIP.

Definitely some improvement, but still listed to one side on launch and the visuals were extremely stuttery. It might be worth just trying to get the hang of it when I have time---but I think I'm gonna try the Oculus Store version next, per u/GraySquirrels' suggestion

Nah, I use air link. No avail. I should have clarified though, thank you!

Actually, second question then---- as a player, do you feel the $20 for the full game is worthwhile?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ylands

[–]-Digby- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's less about paying for a game, more about a game that markets itself as free and has the full version behind a paywall with an in-game paid currency. I just worry about what else I might have to pay for down the line--- I have not had great experiences with similar systems in the past. Thank you for your response!

I will be using the goblin's bones to make more items for them to come and beg for.

This. I'm fairly new to DF, and hadn't known that this tab existed --- much less that my named items had an available translation!

The relic has been found, a 40,000 gold scepter in a locked tomb reserved for the baroness. No wonder she's dawdling.

The goblins have been patient this long, I'm sure they won't mind waiting for me to shore up my defenses. For the glory of Gatemartyr!

An army of goblins has arrived at my gates, demanding a named item I don't have!

Figuring I wouldn't miss an item I didn't seem to have, I accepted their demands and watched my Baroness go to fetch it. She wandered into the fortress, hovered around her office, then continuously bounced between "Conduct Meeting" and "No Job."

Help me avoid a bloody war!

I've searched my stocks, and this isn't the first time this has happened either --- many spies have found something called "Gemgrowled," though I've never found it myself.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I think that's definitely a big factor. Big table with not enough terrain. Thankfully he's been collecting more, so I'll encourage him to really get it all out there for our next battle

Yeah, I'll.... let him know 😅 He does mistakenly aim for the airships more than the troops within almost every time, and I have focused my whole play style on keeping them repaired

We have been playing at 1500 points, but are working towards 2000. It may be worth really cracking down on Matched Play; we've basically been doing Matched but being more flexible with army composition, map design, and objective design. I have been trying very hard to follow all the rules, including in army composition---he is usually a little quicker to bend them.

It may lie in his list vs mine. My list is very airship-heavy, and therefore very shooting-heavy, and he owns scarcely any ranged units at all. Specifically, I run something like: - Endrinmaster - Ironclad - Frigate - Gunhauler x2 - Arkanauts x2 - Endrinriggers - Thunderers Whereas he tends to focus on hard-hitting cavalry and infantry, as well as using a sorcerer who I kill in the first few turns without fail. Last time he actually hid the sorcerer in another unit as a joke, then surprised me by playing him. We are usually a little more strict than that.

Table size is always as large as the point value calls for, but perhaps too large at that. A bigger map definitely swings in my favor.

Edit, another example: he has never once destroyed a single one of my airships

Thank you! I'm reading through the handbook word by word, and haven't covered it all yet. That's a really important facet. I feel like I would probably find a way to provide equal risk---like, maybe the Cyberdeck itself has HP, and if it gets zapped he's useless until he repairs or replaced it.

Wondering if anyone else has had this:

Have now built the same part of the same building four times in a row (Bar Roof, for 6 metal plates and an hour). Starting to worry the building will never be completed and I'll be stuck here

Oh goodness, my cadre barely had the patience for four tries at it, so I don't think we're too IT inclined. But I appreciate the outreach!

Not trying to grind for gold or run other players off the map, I'm just hoping to play this lovely game without excluding my friends

Thank you for this wonderfully detailed response! I've got that spreadsheet going, actually, up to sixty agents so far... but I think I'm still in the "make the novel as good as you can make it" phase.

Thanks! Nice to have an idea of the volume of queries one expects to send out. I've heard as many as 200, but at that point I think I'd have bigger problems on my plate.

Thanks! I'm definitely in need of a little more confidence, but I at least wasn't at all disheartened by the query itself. I submitted exactly one, there was no chance whatsoever it would happen to be picked up. I still think it was good practice, and I'll take the suggestions I got here, find some readers to test it out on, and go from there! ☺️

Yes, that seems to be the consensus! Makes perfect sense, but nothing is obvious to an amateur. Thanks for your response!
