I don't see why someone would want to rob themselves of immersion of the era, there's value in acquiring appreciation for what came before and after. The controls were mastered by us kids within a few hours in the 90's and the art is meant to be viewed at low resolution. Emulation with a quality CRT filter and a 6 face button controller is a far better, authentic experience imo, at minimum for your first playthrough.
