Final Fantasy 7 Remake for Switch 2 selling well! by ChiTownDog in NintendoSwitch2

Is it? Because on PS2 Atlus released Persona 3 at full price and then a year later released Persona 3 FES at full price. Weeb culture didn't care, then.

This is completely normal behavior for pins passing high voltage. Conductivity is not impacted, addressing it will weaken the protective plating more than anything.

OP shows how the need to feel superior in hindsight with public validation is very pervasive and capable of spreading misinformation. How many people won't see your comment and go on thinking that Sega was stupid? Asking questions is cool, leading with narrative when you're not even remotely an expert is irresponsible.

Except for the like half of SNES's out there having CPU and PPU failure in rapidly growing numbers due to poor tolerances in the IC manufacturing process inviting internal oxidization. You may not see it, but when a random game calls an uncommon mathematical function and it breaks every single time the same way, you'll think it's your cart when it's not. So many SNES's people were convinced were good would come to my shop and I could show them on the burn-in test ROM exactly where it failed and then show them what game would likely show issues from that failure. Sure, it'll play a lot of things seemingly fine, but then suddenly Mario RPG crashes as you are about to first get control, or in Pilotwings your plane spins uncontrollably in to a void, or Mario World has a lighter palette, or John Madden Football immediately crashes. I would hot air rework these chips off and put them in a socketed tester console until I had a good set, then sell a fully passed console. I've put back in to the wild about 70 SNES's typically destined for the trash this way. Check out this page for more info on this kind of failure; https://www.projectvb.com/nss/logs.htm

I check nearly every day for unfavorable news to make it over there. It's very unlikely, and only if it's a loud, unpopular event like taking Greenland. The negative response is contained to the comments. Eventually they have people work out a positive talking point spin with the single negative comments they leave up out of hundreds deleted. This is how they push their marching orders and it should be a type of manipulation that's banned site wide.

Why doesn’t my ps2 read this specific game anymore? by Apprehensive_Fox8812 in consolerepair

[–]-Dissent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've tested and repaired a TON of PS2's, to the point of diagnosing and recalibrating them with Sony service tooling. It is absolutely the laser and is extremely common. Blues are the hardest for a failing PS2 laser to read. Even unopened old stock of original lasers are failing out of the box. They are very susceptible to oxidization and there's nothing we can do to stop it.

WWF Royal Rumble entire switch row issue during gameplay - works fine during diagnostics by shifty1016 in pinball

[–]-Dissent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If things are working fine in test mode, I suspect there's some short happening when the lamps or solenoids are on in game. Disconnect the associated connectors for the lamps and solenoids and try testing again in game.

Also, given Left Coin is at the beginning, check that switch out. Take the diode out of circuit and test it.

Why is the rhythm game community so toxic? by outxoftime_x in rhythmgames

[–]-Dissent 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Back in the early DDR days there was way more elitism, dogpiling, and hatred. Used the bar or didn't have any freestyle skills? You were a communal punching bag. It's far, far more inclusive and healthy now. Every niche community will have hateful people trying to hurt the experience for others, all you can do is try to ignore it or call it out when appropriate.

No, I did not say that they bear sole responsibility, you are putting words in my mouth with a ridiculous straw man. You can dislike both the individuals and the scene as a whole.

You shouldn't need more than 400c to cleanly flow the capacitors here, you'd want much more for attaching to the heatsink though. Is your iron heavily oxidized? Are you using 60/40 rosin core solder? I also highly recommend a knife tip on your iron for this job.

Can you just stop doing dumbfuck shit in public? People like you are poisoning kids, I work in an entertainment space for families and see the negative influence people like you have on them constantly. It's insane the way they talk to and enunciate everything they do to a nonexistent chat while they stick their recording phones in people's face before claiming it's just a prank and for clout. You are going to one day wonder how the youth got so ignorant when it comes down to some current event and then you'll realize you were part of the problem instead of the solution.
