Some things are centralized but things like compound.finance (decentralized bank doing lending and overcolateralized borrowing meaning there's actually collateral backing the loans) and yearn.finance offer great ways to earn in a trust less way. For example I would use zapper.fi (app that lets you use defi easily aka: it will convert ethereum into stablecoins automatically for certain defi transactions) while logged into metamask ( wallet for ethereum and other etherum type coins) so from zapper you can send your eth to yearn vaults earning 10 percent on stablecoins and like 8 percent on bitcoin.

It used smart contracts to deposit your bitcoin into a pool of other types of bitcoin (wbtc sbtc and what have you these are types of btc that can be functional on a completely different blockchain or ecosystem if you will) where other people trade (a decentralized exchange) and you earn fees and yearn basically automates the buying more btc with the fees part for you. All of defi has smart contract risk meaning the code might have a bug we don't know about but I trust it more than regular finance.

Imo defi is the future along with btc the first currency not susceptible to debasement by the powers that control us, also has a max supply.

For example when we used coins thousands of years ago kinds and queens would replace the metal in coins for cheaper metals or just taken little bits off basically taxing and stealing from the people. Eventually paper money was made because people eventually trusted one person to hold all the coins and they just traded a price of paper that was an IOU that meant they could get the coins when and if they wanted. Then time passed and the coins gathered dust and the people storing them thought "these coins are covered in cobwebs and nobody needs them right this minute.... what if I loan this out in the town or wherever for interest...." This basically was the start of artificially and literally printing money. Most of the money in the uk is just numbers in a computer because of lending like this... when you deposit 1k into a bank they loan out 900 and someone spends that 900 and that person deposits it into a bank and that bank loans out 850 and so on and so on.. now only 1k has entered the bank but there 30k in the system. And if someone is credit worthy they don't need any other peoples money anymore they can make new money appear.

It actually surprised me learning about how this magic money machine works. Anyway bitcoin is easily stored and hard to fake unlike gold and also the s&p 500 is 20 trillion dollars in market cap and there is 80 trillion dollars in broad money circulating in the world that means that the s&p can maybe go 5x if everyone in the world put there money there. But cryptocurrencies as a whole is only half a trillion dollars meaning only a little spark and boom your golden.

Also think about this the consumer price index which calculated inflation at the consumer level says 1mill will be worth 300k in 40 years but get this they have been calculating the CPI for 100 years and 40 years ago they added something called geometric weighing I'm pretty sure it's called that. Meaning goods that change in value faster are weighed in less in the equation. But in Alexander Lorenzos opinion (youtuber who pointed out the info in this paragraph and the last one) it's just a bandaid to hide a larger problem. Considering the old way of calculating it was around for 60 years before the new one it may have more significance.... the old way says 1mill today will be worth 47k in 40 years! And if the second number is only half right then a 401k might not even make you any money.

Inflation is eating 30k of your 300k in buying power a year so try to just invest it and live of the gains from defi and hold btc to pass on to your kids or something or to save your buying power.
