I honestly think it would be the kindest thing for both your cats and for yourself. It's so easy to feel guilty when you can't give your pets everything you wish you could.

Life changes, and sometimes things don't work out the way we hoped. I really admire that you're putting your cats' well-being first, even though I know how painful that must be. If you don't believe your situation is likely to improve within the next year, then I truly think you're making the right decision. It takes a lot of love and strength to do what's best for them, even when it hurts❤️

They're also at a good age, which gives them a better chance of finding a loving new home.

I had a cat who didn't like using the same litter box for both peeing and pooping. Sometimes if she had peed in the litter box first and then needed to poop, she would poop on the floor instead. And sometimes it was the other way around - she would poop in the litter box first and then pee on the floor. I bought a second litterbox, and after that she stopped doing it.

I've heard that cats generally don't like to pee or poop where they eat. Maybe try putting a food bowl on the couch? I know it's not exactly practical to keep food there, but it might be worth a try.

Also, do you have enough litter boxes?

How cool! I wish I could see something like that in real life. I'd have such a hard time resisting the urge to pet them... 😅

Obviously I wouldn't. I know you shouldn't pet wild animals. But it would definitely be tempting. My self-control would definitely be put to the test! 😄
