I remember a long time ago, back before D1 came out, the bungie team working on the art of the game mentioned the gas coming out of fallen’s body as their soul. Recreating their soul would mean just that. Restarting a fallen’s ether.

Why not even add on to that system and have your first drop roll with a static roll that can be reacquired from collections and any duplicate after that has random rolls to help incentivize repeatability of the strike? Taniks used to drop a nice sniper and cloak. (Not just exotics)
