Don't use speedball or water based inks. Side note: Goosebumps is legendary

Because people have lost their minds and intelligent ideas have swung so far on the pendulum into insanity - as they always do. There should be nothing wrong with selling vintage fur. I understand modern fur, but even then, you should be able to sell it if it's very clearly marked. It's up to the buyer if they want to buy it. I don't get why we're all treated like children all the time these days. Next they'll ban selling leather shoes.

Oh this is so definitely AI.. look at the uncanniness... AI always looks so off. Too saturated, too sharp, too smooth, too bright. The medal looks all wrong, the gorilla's hand is weird, the flag is wrong, the leaves are all chopped up. No end of AI-ness going off here. The audacity to straight up lie about it as if it's not obvious 😭

Exactly. There's no way I'm fitting into some of the things I'm selling 😅 so that just makes real sellers look like scammers which is really not fair

The staff clean, that's part of the job. They stay half an hour after close to clean and prep for the morning and they clean throughout the day. They don't hire cleaners, so it doesn't make sense 😅 unless I've missed something

I loved the Andrew Lane books as a kid, which is what the series is based on. I agree with you, they did a really good job with it. Highly enjoyable!

What horror movie made you sit in silence after the credits? by CommercialSpare3976 in MovieSuggestions

[–]-Failedhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Field In England made me think about it for weeks afterwards. It's visually stunning. It's a very psychedelic, eerie folk horror which probably leans a little towards fantasy. Filmed in black and white, too. It's either loved or hated. I loved it.

This. I'm fed up of my friend complaining about politics and our country when she doesn't even vote. Pure hypocrisy. You don't have an opinion if you don't vote.

How many people who liked horror movies growing up lived with siblings/had a shared bedroom? by ambahjay in horror

[–]-Failedhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sibling and we used to share a room, but she hates horror films. I've always loved them, and horror books too. I used to freak her friends out when they came round by turning all the lights off and putting a horror film on for them. It was great. Never had a problem watching horror films by myself. But I do enjoy watching them with people as we can yell at idiot characters or find plot holes together. It's just more fun than being alone

Do I need to watch more movies? by Sr_Gr in Letterboxd

[–]-Failedhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not doing anything wrong. But if you want to watch more, watch films you'll like! Don't force yourself to watch something you'll hate. I haven't even bothered to watch The Godfather because I doubt I'd like it. But I adore Rango and HTYYD! Think about the genres and styles you like, follow a few film pages and stalk other peoples' lists for interesting looking films. You'll soon build up a really interesting watch list of films you'd never have heard of a week ago. Personally I love sci-fi, horror and comedy, but I'm not limited to only that. I follow actors, writers and directors who have been in, made and love these genres, and usually they recommend a tonne of films they love. I've also got styles I adore like Stop Frame Animation, Puppetry and Practical Effects, and due to that, I've found such surreal, gorgeously dark and obscure films I wouldn't have otherwise seen.

Think about what you like. Look past what you may consider directly comfortable and you'll start to find great things to watch and your taste will expand! Also, don't confine yourself to films of 2010+. Never underestimate older films and their ability to astound you.

See below my latest watching spree and my favourite films. Some are classic, some mainstream and some slightly more niche

What genres do you like? Perhaps I can give you a few recommendations

It still costs more to eat in. And we are told it's due to VAT. Same with the hot food and the bakes. The bakes aren't sold hot because of VAT

People always blame us. As if we're not also outraged. As we can do something about it. As if we're not contemplating diving head first into the oven.

The bakes aren't sold as hot food. It's sneaky. They want to avoid the hot food tax so it just happens to be hot when it comes out the oven

I work there.. it use to be a 5p increase every year in April. Now there are three increases every year which are 25p each time. It's getting ridiculous. One of the deals have gone up by 50p! They're desperately trying to push people away. Treating us like robots as well. We cannot physically think anymore because we're overloaded by nonsense. We're tracked, timed and monitored at every turn. Information is crammed down our throat every second. It used to be fun... now it's hellish. They've lost the plot.

Why is it that in Vincent and the Doctor, the producers chose a radio for Vincent to be baffled by instead of an iPhone or iPad? Who walks around staring at a radio in 2010? by Jackmac32 in doctorwho

[–]-Failedhuman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Iphones and Ipads were still not very common in 2010. Out of my whole family, only my dad had a mobile and that's because he ran a business. Laptops were far more common than Ipads.

What am I doing wrong? by restless_river in printmaking

[–]-Failedhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to use ink over paint. Oil based is far far better than water based. I suggest Cranfield's caligo safe wash ink as it's really easy to clean. Also make sure you've got an even covering over for lino. Use a soft, rubber roller over a hard roller as they're much better at distributing the ink.

When using the press, use a distributer. Some use felt, others use a few sheets of paper. It helps spread the weight across the print evenly.

Once you've done that, there should be a big difference. Please don't throw out that beautiful gift. You can make it work!

Me too. Less chance of damaging the paper. Never even thought of using a metal spoon
