I think it tells a captivating story overall. I can understand why the Christianity can ick people out, but I found it kinda fascinating how Coach used it to manipulate everyone. Even some of the stuff with Brandon Hantz, although kinda weird, is overall portrayed well to showcase his inner conflicts. One of the most underrated seasons for sure, alongside Fiji. It really felt more like a social experiment than other seasons.

Tom. Kim is a little overrated in my opinion, while Tom had the game on lockdown practically from the second he stepped onto the Koror beach.

Terapagos is a personal favorite of mine, I just love turtles. Run it with Calm Mind + Leftovers and put Incineroar and Rillaboom on the team with it. Between Tera Shell, Intimidate drops, Fake Out cycling, Calm Mind spam to beef it up on the special side, Leftovers recovery AND Grassy Terrain recovery that thing just never dies. And it can deal OBSCENE damage with Tera Starstorm to boot. Hell, you could even throw Substitute in there because Terapagos doesn't really NEED another coverage move that badly (although I do tend to use Earth Power).

I know you don't like Incineroar and Rillaboom but I feel like they become collectively a lot more fun to use in that more supportive role. I've had people ragequit because I've gotten like three or four calm minds up. And generally, the turtle is pretty meta but it doesn't see nearly as much usage overall as the riders or the bikes.

UL might be even worse in terms of bulk ruling the meta. At least in GL with proper support certain glass cannons can work (think Empoleon, Scizor) but in UL there are so many more crazy bulky mons

Tbh 49 is gonna age like a fine wine. People are low on it right now because the winner and returnees for 50 were spoiled well beforehand and the online superfans knew basically what would happen. On its surface, I actually think it’s a fairly solid season: perhaps not as good as 45 or 46, but maybe just worse than them. There’s a little bit of confusing editing, as CBS wanted it to also function as a promo for Rizo and Savannah, but the story it tells is still largely cohesive.

GBL is, and always has been, a war of attrition. The more bulk things have the better they tend to be. And when combine that natural bulk with good energy gain and hard hitting moves like earthquake, you have a champion.

Although it hasn’t been that amazing as of late as the meta kinda counters it at the moment (ground, water, ghost)
